1) Darby
2) MLB
3) Norlie-NT
4) Geneva
5) ALT-NT
6) ASV
7) NET
8) NASB
9) AV1611
10) TBD!
My top 10 translations (as long as there are comparisons available):
1. KJV
2. NKJV
3. ESV
4. NIV
5. NASB
6. NLT
7. HCSB
...well that's it. There are no more good translations.
Darby doesn't get discussed much, does it? It is very literal (even more accurate than the KJV where I have tested it); and the underlying Greek is not slavish to the TR or later Greek texts (very eclectic). True, the English is older; but that's OK because I am accustomed to the KJV and comfortable with older English. I won't simply chase after the newer versions because they offer updated English. Why did you list Darby at the # 1 spot? ...
Of my list, the NET is only one I have yet to read straight through; I carry it to church alot and refer to it often (like a commentary). It is quite good, and it could be higher. If there were a scale of degree, then Darby-MLB-Norlie would be very close and there would be a wide gap after the NET.I'm glad you like the MLB and Norlie. The NET is rather low,at #8.
What's the TBD?
1) New King James Version
2) New American Standard
3) English Standard Version
4) Holman Christian Standard
5) New International Version
6) New Living Translation
7) Authorized Version
For me, that's all.
There are no more good translations? Did you mean that you couldn't thiink of any others? How about the NET Bible,or the MLB? Have you ever seen the Norlie or the Weymouth? There are other options.

Not of Brethren background. My Darby is a complete OT & NT with a cheap vinyl cover, very small print, and no notes.I only have a pocket-sized New Testament Darby tranlation with minimal notes. It was my mom's --so I got it when she passed away.Tell me about your copy. BTW,are you from a Plymouth Brethren background like I was?
Sometimes what is readily available is merely pedestrian.Of the translations in the stores readily available for purshase, those 7 are the only good ones.
My list is as follows;
1. KJV
2. ASV 1901
3. Darby
4. NET
5. NASB
6. HCSB
7. NLT
8. NKJV
9. Geneva
10. MLB
If the KJV is your favorite, then why are the NKJV and Geneva at number 8 and 9 respectively?
We've got to get you to like the MLB more. Isn't it charming? What's it doing at #10?
Great topic!
I did not see where the English Standard Version (ESV) was listed, and since in my opinion it is vastly superior to the NRSV - it fixed all the problems with at translation - it should be on list.
