Trump’s tweets criticizing Jeff Sessions mark a grotesque new low

‘ Here is the president of the United States — responsible for the execution and enforcement of laws — openly putting party before justice, caring not about wrongdoing but rather about losing votes and maybe congressional seats. A justice system that is used to protect allies and punish enemies may be the norm of authoritarian governments. But, as Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) said in a pointed statement, “The United States is not some banana republic with a two-tiered system of justice — one for the majority and one for the minority party. These two men have been charged with crimes because of evidence, not because of who the President was when the investigations began.” Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) also joined in rebuking the president, tweeting, “This is not the conduct of a President committed to defending and upholding the Constitution, but rather a President looking to use the Department of Justice to settle political scores.” ‘

Again, Trump speaks the truth.

Again, Trump speaks the truth.
That Republicans should not be prosecuted because it harms the Republican Party?

It is correct that prosecution of Republicans damages the Republican Party, but even suggesting that persons engaged in criminal activity should not be prosecuted in a timely manner should be repellent to any patriotic citizen of the United States.

If you agree with the President's tweet, you have forfeited any moral authority to speak of right and wrong.

Not what Trump said. He said the timing was political.

There are indeed 2 systems of justice allowed, one for the liberals and dems, and another for theconservative and the Christian. We are seeing right now the cultural war being wagged, and thank God trump has the spine to fight the Lord's fight!

Does just saying something make it true?
Nope. But some of us take the President's words seriously. He doesn't want Republicans prosecuted in a timely manner because there will not be time to switch out Republican candidates. He is more concerned about winning an election than justice.

OK then - You are wrong.
I'm sure I'm wrong about more than a few things, but this is not one of them.

As Q has stated repeatedly :Trust Sessions.

President Trump's tweets regarding the AG is a show. They're buds. Sessions is a good guy --a hard working good guy. You'll see.

All I am seeing is a circus. Sessions is the worst A.G. ever. Janet Reno was better.

No. But even if that was the case with all Republicans and Democrats, Christians are accountable to a higher standard. If Christians play the political game without calling out evil and promoting honesty and justice, then we are betraying our calling and are not longer salt and light.

I don't know why this is so hard to understand.

Yes you do.

Its called expediency.

IMO BB you are as much a political animal as anyone here on this board you just are a little bit better at the schmooze.

This is one of the few times I disagree with you. At the least Sessions has not sent the Feds in the middle of the night to haul someone like the little Cuban kid back to Cuba. Sorry, can't remember his name.
His mother was drowned, IIRC, and he was rescued before he stepped on shore.
I think that this brou-ha-ha between Sessions & Trump is for the media & left (I repeat myself) to focus on while in the background something more important is brewing; & when it is revealed it will be a bombshell cause it will catch the left totally by surprise - just my opinion of course! Or maybe just wishful thinking - whatever!!!

Edited to add:
My opinion: if the Trump vs Sessions relations were as bad as is public, I think either Trump would have fired him before now, OR Sessions would have tendered his resignation!!

Off topic, humor me, but when I see certain posters it reminds me of other posters that I have met while on Baptist Board. I miss seeing ThatBrian around these parts. His rhetorical style was cutting & to the point. No dancing, deflecting, or pandering. I hope he is doing well. I miss the honesty. I don’t care much for mind games, or the people who play them, & he was not one of them.

Cheers Brian, if you’re out there.

In other words, the ends justify the means. I reject that garbage. Do the right thing at all times. Be salt and light at all times. Don't worry about conforming to the world systems at the expense of the gospel. The gospel does not fit into the world's political categories.
