Big win for Schumer and Pelosi and the open borders crowd.
The payoff of the shutdown was public exposure of the unwillingness of the Dems to come to the table which lead to them (Dems) agreeing to abide by a committee formed for the purpose of establishing the experts need to do their job.
(1) The experts will say they need a wall.
(2) The Dems have said they are willing to form a committee for expert advice to find a solution for border security in 3 weeks.
(3) Therefore, the Dems will be facing a solution, which they agreed to establish, that includes the wall.
…So we end up with Dems cheering how they defeated Trump over the shutdown, all gleeful that they put on show and stopped the SOTU, proudly claiming victory over the President BUT in 3 weeks we will probably have funding for the wall and Trump hasn’t given up anything he wasn’t willing to give up in the first place.
At the end of the day Trump wins.
But Reagan never got the border buttoned up tight, not even close ...I would make that a condition of allowing the permanency. I think Trump is aware of making any deals with the Dems and then letting them slide as usual on protecting the border. Trump is on to them...

He said that he at least wanted some "down payment" money for the wall before he would end the shutdown and that did not happen. He looks weak here while Pelosi and Schumer appear strong. Not good optics in my book.
Sorry, but I disagree with you here but this is indeed a real emergency. The numbers of people trying to get into our country is off the charts. We now have another "caravan" of folks coming north from Central America - thousands of them. Just yesterday a person with a suspected "flesh eating" disease was allowed in, do you not realize how much we the taxpayer will have to fork out to treat him? Good heavens, we cannot allow the status quo to continue!
They will certainly try to make it look that way.
I'm not so sure yet. It's not over.
I'll believe it when it happens. I think the Dems will continue with no money for the wall and then Trump will have to declare a national emergency. Even then, it will take multiple rounds in the courts and years before it's built (if ever).
Owning it is not the same as being responsible for it happening in the first place.
Owning it is called leadership. Democrats believe using the blame game is leadership.
I think that the Dems want a virtual wall and that is what their committee will decide. All of their 2020 candidates are globalist, open borders advocates.
I think that the are going to nominate Beto and he is against all walls.
We have gridlock. The Dems are going to investigate the Russian collusion delusion until 2024. Mueller will never finish his investigation.
The whole issue of massive federal spending goes unanswered.
This is the high point of Schumer's career.

But at some point even the Socialist/Communist Democrats who now control the DNC will realize they have shot themselves in the foot.by dragging the Mueller thing out several years at the cost of a billion with nothing to show.
