It's my understanding that the main reason the UMC took so long to become an 'affirming' denomination was that the African bishops had the votes that prevented the US from changing The Book of Discipline. I wonder what changed?

It looks like liberal American type politics that ran a political game on them. Once all of that occurred the African's immediately left the denomination. And... My goodness.... For a church to fly the American flag and the LGBTQ, rainbow, or pride flag (formerly gay pride flag) right underneath it!

My religious experience...

1. GARBC Baptist
2. Freewill Baptist
3. Pentecostal Holiness

I find the fundamental Baptist much more steadfast in their ways. Pentecostal Holiness is basically 1800's Methodist. When I first joined as a teenager I thought that we would continue in revival until Gabriel's trumpet sounded and called us home. I really grieved that the church basically followed the Methodist out of the Spirit and into fleshly things. And it all begins subtilty. Someone riding a new Cadillac to church when everyone else is driving beaten down vehicles for example. And then the trip goes down from there.

I would emphasize, in topic with this thread, to recognize the subtle things that begins a regression. And if anyone is promoting such things to tell them we do not wish to follow the Methodist into regression.
