This woman has written a book, but I don’t believe it will ever make The NY Times best sellers list. Like what has happened to the UMC?!?

Looks like I picked a very good time to leave the UMC...for me it was a landing place after my first wife divorced me for another man as the majority of UM churches in my area were still fairly evangelical. With the recent schism and the new BOD, I don't recognize it any more.
My new wife and I tried out a General Baptist church this morning. The difference was like night and day.

Well once the Word of God was made relative by Bible alonism, “ Just pick up the bible and read what it means to you “, then morals became relative.

If the Word of God is relative from person to person, morals are relative as well.

Lawless interpretation of Scripture lead to lawless morality.

She is interpreting scripture by what it means to her, nothing.

"She writes that she wants to use her privilege to benefit others — noting that the church still has more work to do to ensure LGBTQ+ people are truly safe and welcome."

Perhaps she needs to start a PETITION for GOD. I wonder how many signatures it takes to convince the HOLY SPIRIT to raise up another Apostle to reopen the canon? :Cool

I told a liberal Anglican pastor that they did not have to follow the biblical morality, she seemed intrigued. Told her that these rules are only for those going to Heaven and those wanting to go to Heaven, so don’t worry about it.

Can’t have a bunker mentality mate. There’s a war on.

We can’t be like the Jews who were repelled by the people Jesus encountered.

It is the sick that need the physician, and believe me, these liberal pastors are some of the sickest there are. And most delusional.

I hold to the old saying...

"The Baptist do not believe in backsliding..."
"But the Methodist practice it!"

I do attend a Baptist church at 9AM and an Independent church at 10AM. I call all churches post Methodist... Methodist... Even though the name of the church may suggest something else. And the ability to advertise backsliding is scary.

I spoke out to my non-Baptist family about the evils of the "Wicked" movie and my niece rolled her eyes at me like I was some kind of old timer who was totally out of date. My first thought was, "Don't you roll your eyes at me young lady" and my second thought was that at being heart broken over the state of so many churches these days. Especially the Methodist.

The unity of the churches is not organizational, but spiritual. I can only speak with authority of Britain, but there the big denominations are falling off a cliff doctrinally and numerically, but Bible-believing independent churches are growing rapidly. I would put the Church of Rome and the Methodists in the same bucket, and follow the advice of the Lord Jesus: "Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into the ditch."
I expect many on this board will have attended Christian gatherings where the fellowship between churches of different traditions has been very sweet. Unity cannot be forced at the point of a sword, but exists between those who love the Lord Jesus and follow His word regardless of tradition.

I had them on my 'apostate list' since the '70's.

Sure. But what happened after Pentecost, the Apostles went out by the power of The Holy Spirit, converting, preaching, healing and casting out demons.

They didn’t just sit there like sacks of potatoes saying The Holy Spirit will do it.

We have got to get out there, having received The Holy Spirit ourselves.

That’s when you started praying and fasting for them?

My intentions lists have gone general, I say to the Lord ‘ All for who I pray and should pray ‘ as part of the intentions, but He knows all that.

I was a baby Christian back then. My Idea of fasting was a Big Mac and a shake but hold the fries,

Great, I’ll give up street ministry as well. Go full time with the hunting and fishing, leave everything for The Holy Spirit to do.
Won’t talk about Jesus or the Gospel or pray over people, won’t feed the hungry, won’t visit aged care or hospital.

Thanks mate, your good counsel has saved me a lot of bother. Really appreciate it.

I’m ready to be a real Christian like you. I might even take up golf with all the spare time.
