So two wrongs make a right?
And from what did you draw that conclusion from?

So two wrongs make a right?
People keep bringing up freedom of speech. This has nothing to do with freedom of speech. Freedom of speech is the ability to speak out against the government with no gubernatorial repercussions. In most states, it's actually illegal to cuss in public. Again, freedom of speech is not the ability to say whatever you want. It's protection from government persecution for someone disagreeing with them.
2 University of Oklahoma students expelled over racist video
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — The University of Oklahoma's president expelled two students Tuesday after he said they were identified as leaders of a racist chant captured on video during a fraternity event.
University President David Boren said in a statement the two students were dismissed for creating a "hostile learning environment for others." Their names were not released.
The video posted online shows several people on a bus participating in a chant that included a racial slur, referenced lynching and indicated black students would never be admitted to OU's chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
Boren acted swiftly after the video surfaced late Sunday, severing ties with the fraternity and ordering its house shuttered Monday and announcing the expulsions Tuesday.
"I hope that students involved in this incident will learn from this experience and realize that it is wrong to use words to hurt, threaten, and exclude other people," he said.

Your post that I quoted. You were basically saying "hey, these other things were wrong, too, but they didn't get the media attention this did." Instead of us complaining about the lack of media attention, or that when it's black folks it gets "better treatment," we should be focusing on the fact that wrong is wrong. And from what did you draw that conclusion from?
Agreed.
But should the national fraternity and the school have an option to say "these people don't represent us and our beliefs," thus giving them the option to shut down this particular fraternity?
The National Fraternity - yes - they should have the right to end the relationship.
However, the local frat does NOT represent the college. Now, the college should be able to prohibit the frat from meeting on campus (officially) and such - but nothing should prohibit the frat from meeting off campus.

So they start their own fratMeet off campus for what? The only reason there is a chapter is because of the college. Take away the college and there is no chapter.

"hey, these other things were wrong, too, but they didn't get the media attention this did."
Has everyone in OK just gone crazy?
Who really gives a rip whether or not a college fraternity is closed down? Far as I'm concerned, they can all be shut down. It is their very nature to be discriminatory about all manor of things...includin sex, geography, monetary status, physical attributes, student aptitude, athletic prowess and , of course, race.
Is anybody really surprised?

For what? They joined SAE because of its affiliations and the benefits of being in a frat at a major university. Lots of connections.
.
If they are who they make themselves out to be, they can just join the Klan. It's already established and has better connections and they don't seem to be accepting black pledges either.
How about that - YOU answered your own question.
