Were you saved at the altar?

After reading some of the posts in the altar call thread, I was just curious as to how many people here were saved at an altar call. It doesn't matter as far as salvation is concerned, just something I was curious about.

So..Were you saved at the altar? YES or NO?

(I don't want to move the conversation from the other thread. Keep talking about altar calls there, just take the poll here if you would)

Oh, yeah My answer.

No, I was not saved at an altar call, I was at a friend's house and we had just gotten word that a friend of ours had taken his own life. When I had a moment alone, I got on my knees and asked the Lord to save me. I don't recall the words I said, but I know the commitment in my heart was real and that God recognized that.

No. I was saved young and my parents were very cautious. They waited until I asked questions before giving explanations and my first question about salvation was concerning the altar call. (Is there a spell check on this.. alter or altar?)(whatever) My mother explained salvation to me and left me to think about it. I prayed that night in my room but had millions of questions afterward. I later went to altar to make public confession of my faith, but know in my heart, that I accepted salvation alone with God.
I don't remember the date, but I remember it happening. I was 7 or 8 years old.

Yes, I came to Jesus at the alter of my church in Spring 1994. I knew I was ready for Jesus. Even though I did not fully understand Him, I decided to follow Him anyway. Thanks Be to God Through Christ

No, I wasn't saved at the altar, but I told everybody from the altar that I was saved.

I was saved in a class on Sunday Night at my church.

NO, I was sitting the pew, listening to Pastor's message when I knew what had been keeping me from accepting Jesus. I repented of my sins, and asked Jesus to save me right there and then. I did go to the altar call that night and made a my decision public.

No, I was saved at home.

I had been under conviction for some time. It started out with just the occasional thought “ what am I going to do about this God thing?” I began to sneak around and read tracts and a Bible. The conviction kept building and building. I did go to a Church and I did feel the impulse to go up fount during the invitation but I couldn’t be sure if it was God talking to me or was I being manipulated. I often wonder what would have happened if I had gone up and been lead in a “sinners prayer”, most likely I would have been told that I was saved and to never doubt it. That may have pacified my conviction but it wouldn’t have saved me.

I was saved at a small church, but had to take g/f home, b4 service ended. So my g/f prayed the sinners pray with me on the car ride home. Dropped her off then went back to church for the alter call lol

What you said sounds just like how I came to Christ. Started with a thought and then turned into constant conviction, then finally, after a visit from my moms Pastor, I went to bed that night and prayer for God to save me.

I woke up the next morning and knew I was saved! I felt compelled to walk to the altar many times, but I often wondered if it was because I knew my mom wanted me to or if it was because JEsus wanted me to. I'm saved just the same!!

God is so good! I wasn’t even looking for God…. Until he planted that thought in my mind and began to draw me.

I was in a weeklong seminar in Louisville KY. There was a very kind old black man from Mississippi who was always offering to bring you a Coke from the refreshment table or had a kind word. The last day of the seminar, he had on a really nice looking jacket; (you know the kind that cast big bucks). So I complimented him on the jacket. He looked me square in the eyes and said, in an old Mississippi drawl “The Looord been good to me”.. That hit me like a tun of bricks. All the way home I kept thinking “the Looord been good to him”. During the next several weeks, I thought a lot about God, some things happened that made me realize that I didn’t deserve God being good to me. In fact I deserved for the Lord to punish me. To make a long story short, it was about six weeks later when I got saved!

I was saved in the altar call when I was 15.

No. I can't even define the moment I was saved. The "seed" was planted in my living room. It took several months of studying the Bible and leaving the false doctrines of the Catholic church before I was sure of my salvation.

Maybe I was saved that night in my living room, I don't know. I know it was several months later before I fully understood salvation.
