Baloney. Maybe you should move. If you are a good mechanical engineer, then you would be hired quickly in this area. Sexism, baloney. Age discrimination, baloney. If your work is good and makes your employer the most potential money, he would hire you if you were 120 years old. If you are the best, he would hire you even if he detested you.Baloney! 2 college degrees, extensive experience in my field and I can't buy a job. I run into ageism and sexism. Seems engineering companies don't want to hire a 53 year old female even if she is qualified.
Just from what I have seen on here, I have a sneaking suspicion that at some point in the application process, your I hate men card comes out and is detected by your potential employer. If so, then you are really going to have to be good.
A man I eat breakfast with most Saturdays is bumping 90. He has tried to retire for the last 25 years. He can't. Every time he tells his employer he is retiring, they throw crazy money at him. Why? Because he has a knack for figuring out how to build something that is just as good as the competition and he is able to figure out how to build it a lot cheaper. I guarantee, promise, double dog promise; that if he retired today, he could have a job tomorrow; walking stick and all.
