What are the 5-10 resources you recommend

Okay, so something Spurgeon wrote made me think about things. I understand Spurgeon to have read 5 books a week in addition to everything else he did. I can't do that, but surprisingly he recommended being thoroughly acquainted with a book as opposed to reading as much stuff as possible. So I am curious if you had a loved one that for some reason would have no other resources available for life outside of the Bible and a dictionary, what resources do you think are best/most important?

For this we will count multi volume things as one resource, so if you think some 4 part series on Theology is best, that would be one resource, or if all of Spurgeon's sermons by year that could be one resource, some youtube channel a resource.

What are the things to be thoroughly aquainted with that you think would be most important and beneficial to Christians today?

Thank you.

Well since you read Spurgeon you might be interested about what he said on outside resources and I would say there are none that have all the answers... But to point your loved on in the right direction, you might click on the following link... Those of faith teach others and all have stood on the shoulders of giants... Brother Glen:)

I think it will depend on the need of the loved one.
If it is assurance of the truth of the Scriptures, I suggest The Sure Word of God by Geoff Thomas (Bryntirion Press, 2007).
If it is the understanding of the sovereignty of God, The Sovereignty of God by A.W. Pink.
If it is confusion over spiritual gifts, The Holy Spirit by A,W, Pink. Wonderful book!
If it is prayerlessness, The Valley of Vision by Arthur Bennett.
If it is the Person and work of Christ, Majesty in Misery by C.H. Spurgeon (3 volumes by Banner of Truth).

But the book that most helped me as a new Christian was The Sermon on the Mount by D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones.

What resources does the word of God indicate are valuable to new born believers? Being discipled which means having more mature Christian mentors. Instruction not only in all Christ commanded, but in keeping them, which means learning to make Christ our Lord. Lastly a vibrant prayer life, where we increasingly grow in our service to our God.

In addition to your Bible:
  1. Parallel translation of the Bible.
  2. A good concordance and expository dictionary.
  3. A good commentary set. (Brother Glen pointed you in the right direction there.)
  4. A copy of The Institutes of the Christian Religion by John Calvin
  5. The Treasury of David by C.H. Spurgeon

I must say of all books and commentaries of all the learned men the best resource is the scriptures themselves... Don't speak to them, let them speak to you... When you read other men don't compare what they say on scriptures compare what scripture says by what they say... No matter what resource you have, use scripture to compare the resource not the other way around... Let scriptures teach us guided by prayer and the Lord alone, seek the Lords understanding and not our own... Be a Berean!... Brother Glen:)

Acts 17: 10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.

11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
