Reading,,,,Heaven; the Last Frontier by Grant R. Jeffrey. It is decidedly dispensational, but I found some interesting material such as Jesus Christ, censored for 700 years.

I enjoy Grant Jeffrey's books and have read almost all of them (I say almost because I think I've read them all but there might be one I've missed). While I don't always agree with everything he has to say I find his theories interesting and have even learned a few things I didn't know.

The Ghost Map
The Story of London's Most Terrifying Epidemic--and How It Changed Science, Cities, and the Modern World
by by Steven Johnson

Johnson tells the story of the worst outbreak of cholera in Victorian London. He describes in detail how Dr. John Snow totally changed how diseases are viewed and how they are spread. This is a very interesting book. If you read this book your view of life in the Victorian age in London will be changed forever.

With Wings Like Eagles : A History of the Battle of Britain
By Michael Korda

Michael Korda's brilliant work of history takes the reader back to the summer of 1940, when fewer than three thousand young fighter pilots of the Royal Air Force—often no more than nine hundred on any given day—stood between Hitler and the victory that seemed almost within his grasp.

Two interesting facts:

Young British women pilots delivered new planes from the factory to the military bases, flying them into the airfield daily.

Neville Chamberlain, remembered for his failure at Munich was largely responsible for the decisions made in the late 1930's that built up the RAF fighter planes force and thus the RAF had the equipment to meet the German air invasion.

Jean H. Baker, The Stevensons: A Biography of an American Family; and the first volume of John Bartlow Martin's biography of Adlai Stevenson .. Adlai Stevenson in Illinois.

It is interesting that although Stevenson's background was Presbyterian, he was influenced by his wife's Unitarianism. His sister flirted with Christian Science, and people around him tried to give him religious counsel occasionally. His speeches and letters reveal many references to prayer and to following the teachings of Jesus. But he was a long, long way from the more overt piety of some presidential candidates over the years.

Red Badge of Courage by S. Crane.

I read this book many years ago and did not realize how much of the story I had forgotten until I re-read it.

I just finished Lies Women Believe by Nancy Leigh DeMoss. I highly reccomend it for any of the females out there. But if you're more on the "secular" side of life, it will certainly step on your toes. It's a good eye opener about what women buy into as far as what they need for fulfillment, sense of self, etc..... And a great depiction of Adam and Eve in the garden, with most chapters starting out as an entry in what could have been Eve's diary. A Fabulous read!

A goldie oldie from Tim LaHaye "Are we living in the End Times" and 2 Peter in my bible.

I also read the book and did the workbook ! EXCELLENT read!!! I too would recommend this to ALL women!! And especially new believers!

Currently I am working on Created to be his help meet by Debi Pearl. I received it and the workbook for it when I got married 4 years ago. I have started and stopped many times. I am now starting over from the beginning and have set my self a goal to finish it this time!! :)
Also I am reading the Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye.

Gregg Allison, Historical Theology. I highly commend this book! This is one that should be processed by everyone who is ministering the gospel.

Alternatives to American Mainline Churches, edited by Joseph H. Fichter. Dated now, but the focus on what people look for when they circumvent classic Christianity is still valid.

Luther: The Preservation of the Church by Martin Brecht, which is the final/third volume of his work.

Excellent.

"The Original Argument: The Federalists' Case for the Constitution" - It's essentially the Federalist Papers put into modern language with many footnotes and commentary.

"The Patriot's History Reader: Essential Documents for Every American" - Lary Shweikart

Finally, I just gave a collection of R.M. Ballantyne books to my nephew for his birthday, so I'm going through a couple of my own kids' Ballantyne books. They're children's books, but they're very good and very entertaining.

Robert Louis Stevenson cited Ballantyne as a major influence and as the patron who allowed him to write "Kidnapped" and "Treasure Island".

Share with us what Christian books you are reading.

Actually, I am currently trying to get deeper into the bible. I normally am nose deep in a Christian life book, but lately I have come to the realization that I would love to be able to quote scripture more easily. Most people need help with learning to read the bible and bible lessons in order to understand what is being read. I know I have a hard time with some of the parables.
