(Leaonard Ravenhill was a close friend to A.W. Tozer)

The most recent book that I have read that is impacting me is called
"Sensivity to the Spirit" by Dr. R.T. Kendall

(DR. Kendall just compleed 25 years as the Pastor of Westminster Chapel in London where Dr. Martin Loyld Jones and G. Campbell Morgan pastored)

If anyone likes Martin Loyld Jones or A.W. Tozer they should like either of these 2 books.

E.M. Bounds On Prayer (his 7 book series)is excellent. I highly recommend it. I prefer books by like-minded Baptists (who in my opinion, don't do enough writing). Probably why so many are influenced by the likes of Pink, etc.

Has Our Theology Changed? : Southern Baptist Thought Since 1845 edited by Paul Basden.

When I read this book I finally realized that Southern Baptist beliefs were all over the spectrum.

I also learned that what I was taught at seminary was not what SB Pastors were taught in my grandfather's or my father's generation.

It was then that I determined to discover why.

I'm still working on it.....

Probably one of the most influential was The Invitation System by Iain Murray. It's only 40 pages, but I found it at a critical and pivotal time in my life and ministry.

Just for the sake of clarity, I wouldn't call him an "IRA loyalist". Traditionally, the IRA and "loyalists" are of opposite political sides, so to say "IRA loyalist" while technically true may be confusing to some.

There's much about his political ideology that I disagree with but his writings are largely responsible for my passion for human and civil rights' causes.

By the way, he was also a prolific songwriter and I'm also a big fan of his music.

A good friend of mine is in a band called Blackthorn and they do (or used to do) two of his songs, "Back Home in Derry" and "Ballad of the Molly McGuires".

Three books had a profound affect on my spiritual life:

Principles of Conduct and Redemption - John Murray

A Body of Divinity - John Gill

Who Moved the Stone? - Frank Morison
(This was originally published in 1930 and is the most persuasive book I have read on the proof of the resurrection. The story of a British journalist who originally set out to disprove the resurrection, and came back to write a totally different story. It has been reprinted by Zondervan in paperback and well worth the 9 0r 10 dollars, US.)

I might add another book which has proved helpful to new converts (I give a copy to all who happen to come to Christ during my ministry)
The Fight; the christian struggle by Dr. John White, InterVarsity Press. Dr. White is a Plymouth Brethren and psychiatrist who teaches at Regent College (British Columbia, Canada) This small book details the Christian life and helps to set the new convert on solid footing. It is biblically based and sound.

I think "Improving Your Serve" was Chuck's best
and "The Pursuit of God" Tozer's best.
