I don't know the book...can you give an example of something you disagreed with? Would you recommend the book?

Although I'm not finished with it yet, have one more section to go, I would HIGHLY recommend Real Worship by Warren Wiersbe.

I don't know if anyone has recommended Real Worship yet as I didn't read through all 18 pages
It is a very good book though.

I have not heard very good things about 7 Practices of Effective Ministry, but I don't have specifics as I have not read it.

I am working on four books at the moment.

The Opportunity: America's Moment to Alter History's Course, by Richard N. Haass.

Liberalism is a Mental Disorder, by Michael Savage.

Postmillennialism: An Eschatology of Hope by Keith A. Mathison.

Plus just about finished with the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

I am reading "Rejoice" by Karen Kingsbury and Gary Smalley. When I next go to Books a Million, I will read "Sisterchicks on the loose" or "moonlight on the millpond" by Lori Wick.

I love Christian Fiction, but I also plan to read "Mere Christianity" by CS Lewis.

Just finished Michael Savages book last night and it was really good. Very thought provoking. Although, I don't agree with everything he said, I did find myself agreeing a lot and even being challenged to see things in a different light on some issues. Good book.

I will now commence reading on the Mcbeth book and the Westphall book mentioned earlier. I am also going to re-read "Beyond the End Times" by John Noe, and The Singer Trilogy by Calvin Miller.

It is about how we got to where we are today in evangelical life. Its a hard book to read, historical in nature, but very eye opening.

I haven't read "7 Practices.." but I have read "Can we do that" by Stanley and Ed Young.
It was a pretty good book and I agreed some and disagreed some.
Those guys are cutting edge and sometimes they may go a bit too far, but if it helps the rest of us to be a little bit more innovative then I am all for it.

I have just finished the Mark of the Lion Trilogy by Francine Rivers and it was great.

My favorite book is Redeeming Love which is also by Francine Rivers.

Just finished The World Is Flat: A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century by Thomas L. Friedman. It is a book about how outsourcing has helped not only our country but the other countries involved. It shows how it raises the wealth and standards of each country.

It is a book well worth reading.

I just started reading, "The Present Darkness," a Christian fiction by Frank Peretti. It was recommended to me by another Christian. It is about a small college town that is under assault by demon forces, and who the intercessorary prayers of certain Christains were answered by God.

I'm barely into it, and I can see a lot of biblical truths in it.

A deacon commits adultry, the pastor goes to him, discusses it. The man ignores him. The pastor gets another Christian deacon, and they go to the adulterer together. He ignores them both. The pastor and the other deacon bring it to the church.

The people in the church who like the man get angry and try to chase off the pastor because they don't like him telling the sinning-deacon that adultry is wrong. A demon of discouragement tries to attack the Pastor, but an angel sent in response to the prayer gives the Pastor peace and encouragement from God, and prevents the demon from touching him.

That is only a few pages into the book.

I read that book a long time ago when I was a teenager. My biggest objection to the book, theologically was the way he depicted the angels as being powerless to do anything without mere humans praying. I don't know if that is a correct understanding of prayer, but I understand that it helped make the book more exciting. Other than that, I guess it was an ok book. If you want to read a non-fiction book, however, that is, imo, much more inspirational and interesting, I would recommend "And the Word Came With Power: How God met and Changed a People Forever" by Joanne Shettler. Read it in Seminary for Missions class in about 3 hours. Couldn't put it down.
