Tell me, what is the exact function of the Baptist Church...[/QUOTE]

There is no such thing as "the Baptist Church"
Each Baptist church* is local and autonomous

* note that I correctly used lower case

So one could say that these churches really have no distinctives.

No, that is NOT what I said - Yes, each church does have distinctives - but they may not necessarily mirror other local churches.
Even churches in denominations - ie SBC, ABC, GARBC, BBF, ect

There is but one true Church of Christ, and among that that are found Baptists, Mathodists, Presbyterians etc!

I would say that washing feet symbolises us to be servants of each other, humble, not lauding it over other members,

The Old Line Baptist believe that too but we also put it into practice... I heard an Old Line Baptist preacher put it this way, if the Baptist brethren would bow in humiliation and wash each others feet they would less likely be at each others throats... Jesus set a good example!... Shouldn't we follow the example he set?... Brother Glen:)

John 13:13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.

13:14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.

13:15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
