I am sorry I missed reading yours earlier. This is good.
1. I believe church polity should contain a plurality of male elders that lead the church, the pastor is first among equals.
I agree, of course with the exception of male-only, the elder leadership is probably the best fit for our contemporary situation.
3. I believe altar calls/repeat after me prayers for salvation cause many false professions of faith, proven by the lack of a transformed life that many exhibit afterward.
Yes, yes, yes. I have been saying this for a long time. In fact, my stance on this matter is that the worship service should be just that - corporate worship, which, by definition excludes non-believers. It's not that non-believers can't attend, but the focus of the service shouldn't be evangelistic. Evangelism can be a byproduct, but the invitation is a holdover from revivalist influence.
We're so pragmatic that we feel like we have to be doing more tangible efforts, but I agree with a theologian who said worship should be a "royal waste of time."
4. Easter egg hunts are ungodly/unbiblical.
...okay...strange...but I think I still agree
5. Prohibiting a person from serving the church who has a divorce in their background (without considering whether it was prior to salvation, or fault, or time since) I believe is not biblical.
BA-BAM!!!
6. I believe support for the death penalty by a Christian is contrary to the teachings and commands of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I am one of three people on this forum that agrees with this.
Thank you for sharing great thoughts.
