I guess according to the NIV being gay is totally okay as long as you don't offend anybody because then you're a "homosexual offender". :laugh:

Ooooh! This is very interesting. This means that being gay is okay, but if you beat up a gay or offend a gay then you go to hell?
Wow! This is amazing. I guess this shows us that actually God is a friend of gays and he only wants to protect them from people which offend gays, for example pastors which offend gays by preaching about Sodom and claiming that God doesn't like homosexuality. Now everything becomes so clear in front of my eyes. Being gay is totally okay. Yay. :love2:

Afterall, the KJV never really says, "homosexual" now does it? Does that mean it is ok according to the KJV?

Romans 1 and Leviticus are incredibly explicit about male-male relationships being abomination. I am not sure how that group finds a way to twist those scriptures around.

It has alsways been a question for me what antics they must be using to justify it - IF they happen to also care about what the Bible says.

No, the verse is very clear that those who offend the law of God through homosexual behavior are not saved.

The best thing to do in cases like this is just let the verse speak. Don't try to force a particular view on it, as you have done. The words are clear.

I see by your profile you are a Baptist. You said someone who offends the Law of God is not saved.

I am confused because on this forum I got the idea that the Baptists dont believe in keeping the Law of God, the Ten Commandments. That they think they were done away with at the Cross.

Am I wrong about this? Or is it that Baptists in different Churches have different views on that?

This Baptist pastor believes that God's Moral Law (the 10 commandments, among others) is still in effect today. What Christ "fulfilled" was the Ceremonial Law - the Jewish sacrificial system. That's why we don't bring our goats, bulls, etc and sacrifice them any more. That law was fulfilled in the death of the "Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world."

Claudia, I'm not Pastor Larry but am a Baptist.

I believe the ten commandments should be kept. What's different with me is the reason we keep the commandments. Unlike SBCPreacher, I don't believe we keep the 10 commandments in order to be saved, we keep them because we are saved.

Being saved makes us a Child of God and these are the guiding principles by which our Father gave us to live. Jesus went on to simplify them by saying if you can Love one another as I have loved you, you won't have any trouble with the rest. So where as salvation was once given by ones ability to follow these commandments (and repent once a year for your transgressions) my salvation is purely based on my faith in my saviour. These "laws" are loaded into the cross which I must bear.

The Ten commandments were placed IN the Ark and the Ceremonial were place IN THE SIDE OF the Ark (I will try to find those Bible verses for you by the end of the day)

I never said we are to keep those laws to be saved. I suggest you read my post once again - you obviously misunderstood something.

Since you asked, here it is:

Now, LeBuick, here is how I perceive the law of God. Now, I could be wrong (it wouldn't be the first time - it wouldn't be the last), but here it is none the less.

First, there is God’s Moral Law. This includes the 10 commandments, along with others. For instance, Genesis 9:6, which was given before the Mosaic law, would apply. Everyone is responsible for God’s Moral Law, and everyone is a lawbreaker under God’s Moral Law, even if the break only the slightest part of it. Thus, everyone needs a Savior.

Second, there is Jewish Civil Law. These are the rules and regulations for the Jewish people. This has to do with punishments for various crimes, property issues, treatment of servants, etc. Since I am not a Jew I am not bound to these laws. Since I am an American, I am bound to submit to American law.

Third, there is Jewish Ceremonial Law. This has to do with sacrifices that were offered for various reasons as prescribed in the OT. This also includes the different feasts and festivals. Now, each of these sacrifices, each time the blood of a lamb or goat or bull (whatever was prescribed) was spilt, it was a picture of what Christ would do on the cross. Every blood sacrifice in the OT just covered the people’s sins. Christ’s blood sacrifice on the cross paid for sin. This is why we are not required to make sacrifices to cover our sin any more. Jesus Christ is the “Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” This is the part of the law that was fulfilled.

Now, one of the difficulties with this is that some of the OT laws overlap these categories. You have to kind of figure it out. Although that might be a little difficult, it’s not impossible.

Now, this is what I believe. You may begin to pick it apart if you wish – it really won’t matter to me.
