Redneckism? Oh brother.
Luke, some of the most profound teaching/preaching I've ever heard came from uneducated, unpretentious, simple, common, country preachers.
I don't deny that that happens.
One of my favorite preachers of all time had no formal education and I consider him to have been brilliant- Spurgeon.
This is not what I am talking about.
As I said, if a man doesn't know at least the things I listed in my previous post then he should tread lightly when it comes to the weightier matters of theology. Spurgeon was self educated and he DID know these things.
Can he expound the Scriptures? I think so. I think there is still plenty of preaching and teaching for him to do.
BUT... if he does not have a powerful grasp on the deep things he ought to leave them alone.
The arrogance I am referring to that comes from the people that I am, whether properly or improperly, calling rednecks is that they do not have any REAL education, whether painstakingly self educating themselves or by sacrificially investing their energy and time in formal education- they have neither and yet they lack the humility to keep silent where they ought to keep silent.
This is horrific arrogance in my opinion- and it is far worse than the arrogance of the elitist who HAS a powerful education.
