Lol, I read the context 100s of time, that's how I came across the verse duh. Whenever you want to reject something clearly taught in scripture, you appeal to context, how convenient .BF read the context. The light shines into the heart of those that have believed. The light of Jesus shines in all the world John 1:9, then by your view all people should be saved, universalism. But that is not what we see is it.
The reason Paul served the church and proclaimed the gospel was because of God’s work in his life. Much as in creating the world God acted to bring light out of darkness Genesis 1:2-4, so in spiritual creation He brings light to the hearts of those in darkness. Acts of the Apostles 26:18. The light in believers’ lives is the knowledge of God’s salvation. When people were in the darkness of sin, they had no knowledge of God, no experience of His life and salvation. Ephesians 4:18 BKC
