What/Why is Primary Purpose of Sunday Morning Church Service

I am about to change churches.
Always a challenge and traumatic experience, but also always needed if it comes to that point. As a pastor I always hated to have folks leave, but would visit with them and encourage them to do what was right for them/their family. MOST often they left for the wrong reasons and family paid the price

Lot's soul was vexed daily in Sodom, but he never left until kicking and screaming. Too late for his wife and family.

Seems like a common trend, every sermon is based of some personal or internet story. Barely any scripture

Sadly, many have adopted a style of sermon giving that is nothing more than a TED talk. My home Baptist church does not have a midweek service so I have started attending a nondenominational church on Wednesday nights and they have what they call "expository preaching" which goes book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse. That way we stick strictly to scripture so that our minds do not wander on to worldly things and does not allow the pastor to avoid difficult passages. I think that's the way it should be done.

Our pastor bought a business a couple months ago. It immediately became obvious that the time he used to spend preparing sermons, he now spends running his business.

Appreciate the honesty. Trust this is a rare, unique thing - perhaps because of sickness or family needs or vacation, et al. If pastor is bi-vocational (must work to support family) the church should know some weeks he will have far less time to prepare.

I've known pastors who simply begin "repreaching" messages after 4-5 years. More time for "other" things. One simply changed churches and began immediately to repeat all previous messages. They were "good" (since repeated and "tweaked") and pastor had lots of time for visits and fishing. Nothing fresh.

If the message doesn't reach the preacher soul, it may not reach any soul.

Do NOT need theological debate on what is a church, time of meeting, etc. This is general question. Not making this a "poll", so giving room for 1-2 sentence explanation, not a 1-2 word answer.

We know there should be MANY purposes combined in Sunday Morning service. I'd like to think how PRIMARY purpose is visualized, while others may be evident or rotate around the primary.

Some ideas (not limited) to get your minds rolling:
Worship in word and music
Gospel evangelism to lost every week
Fellowship of the members
Collect tithes and offerings
Edification/teaching believers
Community Outreach program to meet needs
Expose area to pastor or musician or other ministries
Observe the ordinances/sacraments
Numbers; draw in the most people to build reputation to church
Glorify God
Fellowship
bible instruction and teaching
praise and worship
giving tithes and alms to the Lord

The primary purpose of church should be setting under Godly Biblical teaching so as to grow in our walk with the Lord so when we leave, we live lives honoring to Christ and WE can share the gospel.
