Think that once we started to water down essentials like inspired/inerrant Bible/ Cross of Christ/original sin and depravity etc!

    We ended up here!

    Like the deity of Christ,
    the atonement,
    salvation by grace through faith,
    justification by faith.
the bodily resurrection of our Lord,
    The second coming of Christ,

As I said in previous post all doctrine is essential. It is essential because it is from God, and God doesn't write frivolous doctrine. If you find the above doctrines non-essential, or if they have "wiggle room for interpretation," then that is one good reason I could never join your church. I hope you can understand the point I was making, even if it was in another thread.

    you misunderstood me here!

was say there are Core doctrines such as the Virgin Birth, trinity, Bible, Cross, Justification by grace alone faith alone
Those issues have ONLY 1 way to interprete understand them while

Core doctrines like Second coming can disagree on timing pre post mid a/pre/post Mill etc

Spiritual Gifts are today, disagree on how many still are

just saying some core essentials can hold ONLY 1 position as a Christian

other essentials of faith, ALL agree on them in principle, but can and do diiffer on how they are interpreted!

Well yes.... when salvation theology becomes a combined effort between God & Man and then relies on mans response then most certainly. The end result is a theology that is no longer exclusively "God-Centered.... Its now distorted in the direction of the self. And of course this is what the spirit of the age demands. From there, it's all down hill.

I get the distinct impression, that you as a Calvinist believing in the Doctrines of Grace, would deny such a Calvinistic doctrine as sola fide. Is this true?

You're absolutely correct. Those who believe "their" faith saved them will disagree with this. Thus your indictment about their theology is correct.

How are you defining that doctrine?

Sola fide is not a Calvinist doctrine, it's a biblical doctrine. :)

If it is a Biblical doctrine why would a Calvinist deny it?

    No one denied it. :)

    Calvinist = Christian.

Your understanding of faith is amiss. Faith doesn't save, grace does, but you haven't advanced to recognize or discern this rudimentary truth.

faith is ONLY the means/way we access the grace that saves us, and that was provided by the atoning death of jesus on the Cross for our Sins!

Its the OBJECT of it, not faith itself that saves!

Yes, our arm/non-cals believe faith salvific, misunderstanding many passages and doctrines. Faith is a product of grace, and it is grace that saces. But proof-text methodologies are rampant within this camp who oppose the truth of DoG/Reformed/Calvinist doctrine. Thus their many spurious conclusions.

Could that be why paul gloried in the CROSS, and NOT in his own faith?

Seeing you don't know what non-Cals believe why do you constantly cast aspersions?

maybe it because unlike cals or Arms, they don't have a 'defined' set of theological beliefs?

I think Preach was an IFB Pastor & a Non Cal at one time....This is just what I gathered...could be incorrect as it is an assumption.
