Read the verses. Sounds like you are hung up on wanting to find the word "book" instead of the reason that the names of God's elect are written in a book. The "book" is a symbol that signifies God's election of those whom He gave to Christ to be their Surety and to give them eternal life (John 17:2).

I believe children are taken care of by the Lord Jesus, and are not lost. Two examples are those children in the Exodus and the children in Nineveh. Another would be David and Bathsheba’s first son.

We as God's people do not trust implication, Van.
We trust what is written, and what God has declared in the Scriptures.

Logic and reason will teach us that ones whose names appear in the book of life FROM the foundation of the kosmos simply means those who are born into the kosmos through natural birth. This is especially brought to light since it is true that no one is added to the book because of any of their own deeds or of their personality.

These things are simple to understand before false religion darkens counsel and applies ethereal doctrines to them.

There is a way to be added to the Lamb's book of life and that way is Jesus Christ. Ye must be BORN AGAIN. How simple is this?

Men's names are blotted out of the book of life at the end of dispensations. Only 8 names were in the book of life when it began to rain in the days of Noah. The door was shut by God himself and no one could enter after that. Consider what Jesus said to these Jewish rulers whose task it was to recognize and lead the people of Israel to receive Jesus Christ as the promised Messiah. They refused and plotted to put him to death.

Only those who were believers will rest IN THAT DAY (the day of the LORD, the day of his vengeance). no one can be saved after the beginning of the day of the Lord judgement.

While God is faithful to save those that trust in Him man has to continue to trust in God if they are to be saved in the end.
Heb 3:14 For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end,

Man can and some do fall away from Christ to their loss.
Heb 6:4 For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit,

Heb 6:6 and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame.

While you may have read the Bible as a whole you have failed to believe the Bible as a whole.
