If the scriptures we have studied can be true without
pre-life souls (simple) why add something complex (pre-life
    souls) to explain it?

    Deu 18:10-12a (KJV1611 Edition):
There shall not be found among you
any one that maketh his sonne,
or his daughter to passe thorow the fire,
    or that vseth diuination,
    or an obseruer of times,
    or an inchanter,
    or a witch,
    11 Or a charmer,
or a consulter with familiar spirits,
    or a wyzard,
    or a Necromancer.
12 For all that do these things,
are an abomination vnto the Lord:

A 'necromancer' is one who reputedly
talks to the spirit of the dead.
If we shouldn't talk to the spirits of the
dead, should we talk to the spirits of the
pre-living? By extrapolation, I think not.

Nearby is a discussion of if/when a lost dead person's
    spirit dies.

I never said we should talk with them. We were merely asking when the spirit comes into existence biblically. Thanks Ed.

If Ed thinks we should not talk with the spirits of the pre-living or dead, does Ed believe there are pre-living spirits to talk to?

I'm sorry brother, but i'm not sure what you mean by this remark. Are you suggesting that I would read the scriptures other than as they exist? As I would have them designed? I hope that was not a condescending remark. Surely you don't mean that do you?

Conception or a split second before conception, because it the bible says that our spirit will return to GOD. The word return implies some kind of preexistence before conception....or does it?

Wow... great point AAA. Our spirits will return? Why would it have to be a split second? God is not bound by time. A day is as a thousand years. Not disagreeing with you, just trying to understand. I truly do not know.

I would come to your thread, web, and say that yours has more responses than mine, but if I did that would give you one more count. Wait.... I already did huh?

RB: you are NOT the subject of this Topic.
You may be interesting, but you are not the subject
    of this topic.

I was doing a preemptive strike against those ( likely other than
yourself) who desire to TELL GOD HOW TO RUN HIS BUSINESS.
None of us were invited to the CREATION, so we didn't advise
God how to make up His Holy Written Word (AKA: The Bible,
    the Holy Scripture).

And at the same time I was being sarcastic.
There are people here (not the ones posting on this topic),
who used to apologize for things that were NOT THEIR
BUSINESS. So i was apologizing on God's behalf, something
which I have neither the authority nor normally the nerve.
But I did, and apologize for my apology, if it caused offense
to anybody, for such was not my intention.

No problem brother. I truly desire to have the unity that Jesus prayed for in John 17. I was a rather contentous person until the Holy Spirit got hold of me.... and made me to love a brother whom I disagreed with a lot on these forums. He (the Holy Spirit) broke my heart again. I pray that i'm never like that again with one of my brothers in Christ. If I get that way again, I pray that I do not attend these forums. Lord willing, I will behave in a manner that will bring glory to my God and my Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

As I was surprised and very curious as to how other Christians viewed this question, I conducted a poll on this Board, which you may find very interesting.http://www.baptistboard.com/showthread.php?t=32053

I most assuredly believe life and soul begins at conception. As God often refers to this as the beginning of life and many good verses have indeed been given in this thread. http://www.biblegateway.com/

With Jer. 1:5 and as DHK later pointed out. "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee..". Some could use this verse to say we existed before conception; however, it really means that God knows all things that ever were, that are, and shall be. He has His plan for everyone and knows their path long before we are ever born! Again He refers to conception/conceived many times and as the beginning of life. He also states several times he "formed thee in the belly". He never says he "formed thee" before conception and most assuredly declares life before actual birth. Some wish to think life only begins after birth, or during some point after conception, but often it is just because they want to justify abortion procedures. However, not only does the Bible not support either of those notions it refutes them.

Just to note, only Adam was "formed" differently than the rest of us. After all he had no mother.

Here the Angel describes that John the Baptist will be a great man but when does God recognize or have reverence for him? He does so while in the womb. The story of Elizabeth and Mary offers great insight to numerous questions and is simply awesome!

    Take care and God Bless!
