what DAY?when time was created.
I wasn't there but I know the One who was ... and is ... and is to come.
angels? in time to marvel and rejoice over The Creator's work ...
Which reminds me ...
BALANCE!
==============
Balance
The Archangel Michael had the heavenly host assembled to sing their choruses of praise to the Almighty.
But … God was not present. So Michael set off to locate Him and advise the host was ready to go …
not long after Michael started his search, well, he found God. “Sir, the heavenly host is assembled and ready when you are”
“Ah … Michael! come over here. I want to show you something”
“Oh, yes sir, what do you want me to see?”
“Michael, I’ve been creating.” “Creating? cool!”
“Yes, Michael, see for yourself the stars, planets, the sun … all in perfect order”
“I see! there is one unique planet there, God, what do you call THAT one?”
“Ah, Michael, that is planet Earth. And Earth, Michael … is ALL about balance”
“balance?”
“Yes, Michael, balance. For instance, see there in northern Europe, those people will have terrible weather, but will be quite wealthy. Conversely, the beaches in Southern Europe are pristine, but the people there will be almost paupers.”
“Hmm” mutters Michael as he continued to watch the little blue marble spin about.
“Wait” Michael exclaimed … “what is THAT section right there? with the piney woods, massive coastline, hill country, rich farmland, ranches everywhere, wild game, livestock and plains from yesterday to tomorrow!?”
“Ah, Michael … you have taken notice of TEXAS”
“TEXAS??? wow, that’s a GREAT name”
“Yes, Michael, TEXAS is the land of milk and honey. Everything is bigger in TEXAS. You’ve noted the natural resources/features. TEXAS will be populated by a great people. Handsome, charming, intelligence, gracious, and generous. Folks all over the world will be blessed when they are visited by a Texan.”
“Hmm. OK … so the land is diverse, plentiful, rich … and the people are as well … but what about balance?”
with a wink in His eye, “Wait until you see the idiots I put in Austin to run the place.”
NOW you know the rest of the story!
Your description of a pile of bricks describes the form of a pile of brinks. To point to something without form, not gaseous, or liquid, or solid and call it something that can be formed, is to point to absurdity. Not true. A pile of bricks can be a house without form.
Decoding, I take it you both do not know, and do not have an interpretation. The key here is that it is a matter of interpretation, thus precludes dogmatizing.
What is the "deep" in the mind of the initial audience? The "unknown" beyond what is known, i.e the surface.Everyone is forgetting the Deep, the sudden appearance of the raw material.
Or perhaps I have studied the whole passage, every word. All these assumptions of ignorance of those who hold differing view betrays less than wisdom.Again, the Deep has escaped your notice.
Thanks, we agree, verse one simply provides an overview. God is telling us what He is going to tell us.OK ... I'll take verse 9 for $200.
verse 1 declaring this to be so ... and 2-on the details which include 6 consecutive 24 hour periods for all of Creation ... which started about 6000 years ago and was completed about 6000 years minus 6 days ago.
How could you possibly know? The important thing is what we're told. What is the "deep" in the mind of the initial audience?
The Deep is the waters. The "unknown" beyond what is known, i.e the surface.
That is a huge non sequitur. Besides the earth was without form, not the waters.Your description of a pile of bricks describes the form of a pile of brinks. To point to something without form, not gaseous, or liquid, or solid and call it something that can be formed, is to point to absurdity.
Day one for the waters. Angels are not part of the corporeal world. Genesis 1 is not about their making.what DAY, not what verse.
IDKwhat DAY?
Isn’t that a rapper or someone pretending to sing when they are merely quoting poetry in rhythm?
In Genesis 1:2 scripture says the earth was "formless and void." That means, it seems to me, the earth did not exist. Obvious, others think this describes a planet existing in chaos.
I think scripture says the planet was formed in verse 1:9.
What say you?
The question refers to when Genesis says the earth was created, 1:1, or 1:9. I think 1:9.
That is what I had understood to have been referred to as the gap theory. And the "was" in Genesis 1:2, ". . . And the earth was without form, and void; . . ." is argued to mean "became." I personally do not hold that view.
But I do believe the 6 days from Genesis 1:3-31 were actual Earth days in which God did in those 6 days pretaining to our Earth. I believe day 1 God turned on our Sun.
LOL. How obtuse.Decoding, I take it you both do not know, and do not have an interpretation.
Let me try one more time: was the house built when the bricks were made? Or was the house built when they were stacked and cemented?Let me try this one more time. Is the earth created in Genesis 1:1 or is the earth created in Genesis 1:9
I already searched scripture and the commentaries of several scholars. Please address the position, the earth was created, formed, in Genesis 1:9Do a search for Tom Cassidy's thoughts in these forums.
More nonsense, I did not say God created the earth without form, or came to be without form. That would be the Gap Theory advocates...1:1 and the sons of god shouted with joy. I do not believe God created it; without form
