Where Did Our Faith Come From?

That's the difference in hearing with the ear and hearing with the heart.

Those "atheists and heretics" have heard with the ears but have already made the decision they don't want Christ.

They cannot hear from the heart just as the Pharisee's could not hear, they have already made that choice.

Paul said, "it is with the heart that man believes unto righteousness..."

Man can hear the Gospel all the day long, but if his heart is set in his own lusts he cannot hear from the heart to be saved.

The hearing of the Gospel is of none effect to him.

We Particular Baptists posit that God is the one who empowers individuals to hear with the heart: “A woman named Lydia was listening; [she was] a seller of purple fabrics from the city of Thyatira, [and] a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to respond to the things spoken by Paul.” - Acts 16:14 [NASB]

Yes, and her heart was open to God, as the Scripture says of her, "14, which worshipped God."

Her heart was with God and He opened her heart to Christ that she might be saved.

Her worshipping God was not enough, she needed Christ and she on the spot believed.

Cannot means they don't have the ability to hear!

Ok, BF, your heart is closed to what we are trying to point out.

The rest is in the hands of God.

But I can't help but like you, you've always been thoughtful and considerate through the years.

I wish you the best my friend, but I have to let go of all this.

May the Lord bless you and kept you in the faith.
