Faith comes from Jesus Christ 1 Pet 1:20-21

20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

It gives Him Glory!

Our faith began with God... When it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen... - Galatians 1:15-16

The OP asks "where did our faith come from". Well there are only two options, 1] external or 2] internal.

If it came from an external source then can we say it is our faith? Does someone else believe for you, trust for you?

Since our faith cannot be from an external source then it must be internal. We have to trust/believe. Others cannot do it for us.

What we find in scripture is that the person has to believe/trust, they have to choose what or who they will put their faith in.

We are presented the gospel message and we have to choose whether we will trust it or reject it.
Rom 1:16 ...the gospel, ... the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes,

Eph 1:13 ....after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed

Act 16:30 ..."Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"
Act 16:31 ..."Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, ...

We have been provided all the information we need be it creation, conviction of our sins, the written word of God or the gospel message etc but each of us must make the choice to either trust/believe or to reject that information.
