Because it's borne out by seven years of austerity here. Welcome to our brave new world of food banks and soup kitchens for the working poor.

No. I help them in general and specifically have helped 3 people for at least 10 years. One person called me and said he had no food and I wired him $200. What EXACTLY do you do?

“Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.

2“Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. - Matthew 6:1-4

Do you reject the laws passed since the late 1700's? I suppose not if you supported Moore and the Sheriff Arrapo.

Irrelevant. Your temper tantrum has nothing to do with whether or not Medicaid is found in the Constitution.

Once again, you show that you cannot answer the question.

I don't give a tinker's cuss what your Constitution says, just what the Bible says.

You mean the Bible that says we're supposed to submit to the law?

And the Bible clearly establishes an unequivocal preference for the poor

Actually, it says just the opposite: that we're not to show favoritism, but treat all men equally.

What I cannot in all conscience countenance as a Christian, is the redistribution from poor to rich occasioned by this latest Bill. I cannot see how any Christian can lend it credence or be an apologist for it.

OK. I'll bite: How does "the latest bill" "redistribute from poor to rich"?

Are you equally outraged by the redistribution from workers to the poor?

church mouse guy said:
We are headed into a war.

Pfft. One side has six trillion bullets. The other side don’t know which bathroom to use.

I don't think so but, if we are, draft the snowflakes and the little man-boys.

Submit does not mean agree with or not work to lawfully change the law. Should you or I submit to our countries laws on abortion?

Guess the OT prophets and Jesus didn't get that particular memo

I've already explained that.

Are you equally outraged by the redistribution from workers to the poor?
Define 'workers '. Are you unaware that many below the poverty line are in work?

And as far as paygo, if that's your strongest complaint, shouldn’t you wait and see if it actually goes into effect?
Shouldn't the Congressional Republicans have sorted that issue out before voting for the Bill? It's leaving an awful lot to chance: PAYGO is automatic unless a deal is struck...shouldn't they have got the 'unless' sorted before voting?

If their opponents thought they could hold their agenda hostage, they never would have agreed. Now we will see what happens.

As Curtis I think posted, Sanders and some GOPers to their credit are trying to do strike a cross party deal to get round PAYGO. Let's hope they succeed.

Yes. And I thought you all wanted Christian values in the heart of government
Nice try. Do you let your government do all of your giving ? How about witnessing ? If yer short one week, you want them to tithe for you ?

If the poor are not being taken care of, it is the church’s fault.

PAYGO is automatic unless a deal is struck...

Medicaid is not one of the programs that the OMB can cut under PAYGO, but Medicare is.

You think Democrats are going to vote against a waiver to PAYGO that would spare cuts to Medicare?

Because it's borne out by seven years of austerity here. Welcome to our brave new world of food banks and soup kitchens for the working poor.

And what led to the "seven years of austerity"? Couldn't be the welfare state you love so much, could it?

That's what happens when the takers outnumber the contributors.

They've voted for a waiver almost 100 times already. Not much chance they'll change. Senior citizens will kill 'em at the polls.
