Yes, free will. Where each person is free to choose or reject. At Calvary one thief chose God and the other rejected him - and that biblical passage can not be read in any other way.

Free: enjoying personal rights or liberty, as a person who is not in slavery:
without charge or cost
Will: the faculty of conscious and especially of deliberate action; the power of control the mind has over its own actions:the freedom of the will.
Combining the two definitions, here is the way I define free will:
Free Will: Enjoying personal liberty of deliberate action as a person who is not in slavery, without charge or cost. The freedom of individual will.
Adonia, hopefully you can conclude we are not free by way of our nature, but in fact are slaves. Furthermore, based on scripture, the question is not whether or not we are slaves, the question is who is our master? Everyone is a slave either of sin which leads to death or of obedience to God’s revealed will which leads to righteousness in Christ.
[Rom 6:16 ESV] 16 Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?
[Gal 4:7 ESV] 7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.
[Jhn 8:32 ESV] 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
[Jhn 8:36 ESV] 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
[Rom 6:20 ESV] 20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.
[Gal 4:7 ESV] 7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.
The idea of free will is a lie of Lucifer he started when he said:
[Isa 14:13 KJV] 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
Consider the results of invoking you free will into everyday decisions without considering what God’s will is in the matter.
[Jas 4:13-17 ESV] 13 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit"-- 14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. 15 Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that." 16 As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. 17 So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.
Finally: [Jhn 15:5 KJV] 5 I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
We are helpless creatures without God calling us out to be His child.
