Stated as a fact , my opinion is that it is a patently false statement. And that's a fact.

Not Republican. Trump. He ran a campaign of hate and he's following it through with his actions as President. The Neo-Nazi's, white supremacists, Alt-Right, and the usual Republicans who think the needy are in their condition due to their own unwillingness to work and the wealthy are blessed by God. This is called the prosperity Gospel and is preached by Joel Osteen and previously by Norman Vincent Peale and Robert Schuller. This is a false gospel. So more Republican representation equals mean spirit and racism?
That's an odd way of characterizing things.
I'm curious, would you say that, in your estimation, that the "Puritan work ethic" had any similarities with the modern prosperity gospel? Not Republican. Trump. I think the Prosperity Gospel is a holdover from the First Covenant God had with Israel. The Bible clearly states that the First covenant was never intended to be the final reconciliation between God and Man and was completely replaced by the Second Covenant of Grace provided by Christ's death on the cross and resurrection. I like the statement some theologians use. The First Covenant was nailed to the cross.I'm curious, would you say that, in your estimation, that the "Puritan work ethic" had any similarities with the modern prosperity gospel?
