Why are so many in the world predicting world will end in 2012?

There are many who continue to say that according to all of the worlds cultures, regardless of which, they all match in one thing. The world will end in 2012 or that something huge will happen on that date.

What do you guys make of this, there are many in today's Churches and most importantly more in the world believe this is the case. Whats this all about?

Check this video out, and please give me your feedback. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fipnhz5myB4

The question by many is why is it that all of the past civilizations believe this date of 2012 as a date when something crazy will happen? Most of them say that this is the date when the missing link will show up, aliens UFO's ext... I think all of this is a lie of the devil but please check out the video and give me your thoughts.

Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Do you remember Edward Wisenut? He wrote the book 88 reasons why the Lord will return in 1988.
Well he told me ( I interviewed him on the radio) yes, the Bible does state we do not know the day or the hour, but the Bible remained silent as to what week it would be. Seriously. ( I still have the interview on tape- somewhere:type: )

I heard some of those tapes he made. My neighbor gave them to me to listen to. They (my neighbors) totally believed that stuff. They even wrote letters to family members and left them on their kitchen counter along with all their keys.

One of the most humorous things the guy said in his tapes was that when Jesus said "it is not for you to know", He actually meant (according to the Greek) that you could know. It had just been interpreted wrong all these years.

As far as Christ returning in 2012, I guess that means no 7 year tribulation?

Ah, but it does leave room for a 3.5 year persecution/tribulation period and then the outpouring of Wrath.
That aside I think that we are missing the point that after the 7 year period (regardless of how you divide that period) there is still 1,000 years of Christ's reign to get through. So much for pagan calenders. :tonofbricks:

I think the rapture was what was intended.
Oh. I thought it meant the return of Christ, end of the world.

So, the rapture is supposed to take place in 2012?

If the calendar ends in 2012, I assumed that meant the world was going to end then.

Oh well. I'll just keep waiting and watching. :)

One thing to consider about these calenders though. Being of pagan origin they could be an indication of Satan's plan. To him, after the 7 year period, he is chained into the bottomless pit for 1'000 years. In effect his plans are moot. Even though he is released after that time his stirring up of Gog and Magog is very short lived. So after 7 years for him it is over.

Here we go again with these speculations. Shouldn't we learn from past failures?

My new tag should be...

"I'm a mid tribber...until July 1st"

Remember that Jesus said that those days shall be shortened for the elect's sake. So a true mid tribber is also praying "Even so come quickly, Lord Jesus." I do remain highly skeptical over any extra Biblical source for prophecy. In fact, as well I'm sure that you are, I don't trust them at all.
