Why isn't Bush nephew fighting in Iraq, instead of fighting police

Why?

Easy answer. We have an all volunteer military. His nephew has not volunteered. Thus, his nephew is not fighting in Iraq.

If you don't like that, then you should write your congressman and senators in Washington and urge them to bring back the draft for all males age 18-26 with no deferments or exemptions for anything.

I think you posted this because you are pushing to divide this great nation.

What? You mean Aslanpal and the Democrats favor the draft? Somebody get a scaremongering commercial ready about how the Democrats want to kill your children.

Its really President Bush's fault that his nephew isn't in Iraq? lol

How many of us have nephews and nieces who are doing things we'd rather they not do?

And anyway, being his NEPHEW means he didn't "fall from President Bush's tree" at all!

I say the enlistment age ought to be from 16 to 50. Less talk more action! Who ever is with me can just sign the petition below and send it to your nearest recruiting agent.

I agree. I had nothing to do with raising my neices and I sure wouldn't want to be blamed for them going out and making babies with every sailor in the fleet.

Aslanspal, you do realize that President Bush served in the military, don't you?

I'm just disappointed you didn't find a way to tell us that Matt Drudge is gay in your post.

Everyone here knows I'm no Bush fan, but I believe the OP of this thread to be just plain stupid!

What George W. Bush's nephew does with his life has nothing to do with the President or the war in Iraq.

The same implication could be made about anyone under the present maximum age who hasn't enlisted. That list would be extensive. Right now we're relying on volunteers to serve in our military. Not volunteering - regardless of the reason - is not dishonorable.

I'd sure hate to be measured by what my my nieces or nephews do or don't do! I have no control over them. They're adults and even their own parents aren't responsible for their conduct any more.

You're correct, ASLANSPAL, about the "fruit not falling far from the tree". That saying could be applied to the rotten fruit you keep trying to find and shake from rotten trees.

Why isn't Bush's nephew in Iraq, the OP asks?

I suppose the same reason that John Kerry's nephew, Jose Ferreira: or Al Gore's son, Al Gore, Jr., aren't- they haven't signed up for service in our all-volunteer military.

This is exactly why I have NO respect for ASLANSPAL. If you've got to dig this deep to find "dirt" on the President, you really have nothing to contribute.

Agreed. Between that and his goofy rants about Matt Drudge, I don't know what's wrong with this guy.

Reverend Joshua is banned, but this guy's allowed to stay?

Just looking at his picture, he looks kinda like one of those left-wing liberals to me. So that would explain why he didn't enlist.BTW, is this supposed to shame the Bush family into sending their own young to sacrifice for the cause(fight against terrorism, for freedom, U.S. security).
Don't look for that to be happening anytime too soon Aslanspal ;) .

So, ASLANSPAL, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt; just what was your point with the OP if not just trying to see if you can make something of your usual anti-Bush rhetoric stick?

I disagree. What if all you had were leaders such as Bill [shaft your buddies] and Hillary dillary Clinton, John Edwards, John [Swift boat] Kerry, Howard [the screamer] Dean, Bill Moyer, Bill Maher, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi,Schumer, Leahy, Kennedy, Durbin, all the hollywood freaks, and the list goes on ad infinitum? Shucks, I forgot Al Gore. What if all your leaders were totally void of ideas and anything else? Your ire might make sense! Of course one could say that since their ire makes sense it would make sense if they had enough sense to change.

Hmmm. JWP, lets try looking into the crystal ball and try to predict what Aslanspal is going to say. Lets see , I see an image and it says "Hypocrocy is part of the Bush family values."

I don't think anyone even believes there is a draft. An idiot would know that military service is voluntary. What I think people would like to see though...is that family members of Bush...or any politician for that matter, put their money where there mouth is and encourage their family members to go out and join the military.
