Why was McCarthy Removed?

Also, if the national debt was still the 31% of GDP in President Reagan's first year in office, then the national debt today would be "only" around $8 trillion.
I noticed that as well.

Regurgitating liberal hyperbole again?
@canadyjd and @Wingman68

I looked up his policies. While McConnell may appear "liberal" to you, and I grant there is subjectivity when we base positions on our own rather than the whole, Mitch McConnell is considered conservative rather than liberal.

He was considered moderate in the 1960's and 1970's for his support of the civil rights movement and his stance on abortion.

But for the past several decades his position has been characterized as "conservative".

Regarding Congress, what percent of the GOP do you consider to be liberal?

It sounds like you guys believe the only conservative Republicans are those 8 who voted with the 208 Democrats.

Several bolts. A whole bunch of nuts.

He worked to pass a clean stopgap spending bill (without money going to the Ukraine and border security).

He compromised, which does not go well with about 8 Republicans.

The Biden impeachment inquiry (doesn't sit well with Democrats).

Ultimately it's a Democrat win (given the timing). Going into an election year the GOP looks incompetent and unable to get anything done. The Democrats will most likely be able to blame the GOP if the gov shuts down next month (which may easily happen) leaving millions of Americans without pay at the end of November.

I think it the Democrat removal (ultimately it was in their hands) of McCarthy was a brilliant move from their stance.
I am getting confused. Have seen several of the 8 on Newsmax and they say McCarthy was trying to fund the Ukraine and was not funding border security. ????

Acting Speaker Patrick McHenry ordered former House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer to vacate his Capitol hideaway office on Wednesday after McCarthy was dethroned.

Kevin McCarthy was ousted as House Speaker on Tuesday in a 216-210 vote after Rep. Matt Gaetz filed a Motion to Vacate the Chair.

8 Republicans voted to oust McCarthy: Biggs, Buck, Burchett, Crane, Gaetz, Good, Mace, and Rosendale.

Patrick McHenry wasted no time after he slammed down the gavel.

I’m starting to like this guy, but I don’t see his name on the great 8 list………..

"Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and former Democratic Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) were ordered to move out of their hideaway offices in the Capitol on Tuesday.
...
  • Pelosi was in San Francisco on Tuesday for the funeral of the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) — thus missing the vote on removing McCarthy."

Dunno. The Dems complained that the Ukraine wasn't being funded. Border security was, but not at the level wanted (or probably needed).

I say keep the Ukraine separate. Send the military to the border to help as well. I mean, they are supposed to be used to protect the US....and the border is where many criminals are getting in.

Yes. From what I saw reported 8 Republicans and 208 Democrats voted to oust him.

I am assuming the 8 Republicans couldn't have ousted him on their own.

I like that they kicked Pelosi out of her office. I guess it doesn't mean much....but I like it.

Why do you like it?
Because it's like children on a playground.

I like when foolish people make their foolishness known.

That's one reason I like free-speech. It often removes all doubt.

I mean, look at all that our nation is going through. Look at things that need to be addressed. And then look at what occurred.

In the middle of this all that was accomplished is the removal of McCarthy and kicking Pelosi out of the office. Congress went home.

From Conservative Review, a very informative interactive map of members of congress from every state, & their complete voting record.

After a brief look around I found Tennessee to be well represented with conservatives. Anyway, Jim Jordan is the name at the forefront right now, for speaker. His conservative record was quite good, sterling in fact considering he has been there 15 years, so there’s that.

Click on their name for their complete record of voting. I found that my congress critter who is an ex-pastor, & professes to be SO conservative, is not. The longer they are in DC the worse their record becomes in many cases. Insert shocked face. Term limits for more than one reason.

I like McCarthy but there is no more just maintaining the status quo, hold to your promises and get the job done or GET OUT OF THE WAY!

Do they have permission to shoot them?
