I suppose one question is, if it is not a sin to drink an alcoholic beverage, is there a point at which it does become a sin, and what is that point?
And how do you know when you reach that point?

When you are no longer legally able to drive would be a good place to start.
Don't drink, so probably not going to be tossing one back so to speak any time soon. I don't really care if you do, your drinking habits are between you and The Lord. I do encounter lots of folks who had a serious drinking problem, so out of deference to them I abstain. That is a choice that I have made, don't expect everyone to make the same choice.

The resturant part your choice: I avoid gatherings and restaurants where alcohol is served is well nigh impossible to observe in California. Any eating establishment other than chain fast food is likely to have at least a beer and wine license even Denny's.

It is amazing how the years redefine what we will and will not do. At one time in our church, especially before we replaced part of our local Constitution with the BFM 2000, our members would not even enter a restaurant that served liquor. The barrier was defined by the four outer walls of the building. Now, with the advent of almost all restaurants serving alcohol, we now have a new barrier. Instead of the four outside walls, it is now the half partition that surrounds the physical bar in the establishment. I guess the Lord got tired of using so much construction material.
Seriously, locally here, unless you go to a McDonalds, Cracker Barrel, or other fast food place, you will encounter a place that serves alcohol. Even the local Chinese and Mexican restaurants serve it.
I enjoy alcohol---thats what God put it here for. Thank you Lord.:godisgood:

More parties and social gatherings I guess.
If it is served somewhere I go, I may have a glass of wine. If it is not, I probably won't.
I have five mini-bottles on white wine in my refrigerator that I occasionally use for cooking. It is good for drinking, but I don't have much interest in it.
If it is served at the home where we are celebrating Thanksgiving, I will receive the hospitality and enjoy a glass of wine with my meal. It is a loving thing to do for my hosts.

Yes, I will likely have a drink over the holidays, and I don't believe drinking is a sin, if done in moderation.

I doubt it. I don't judge anybody for enjoying alcohol in moderation, but because of my position in the church, it's something I stopped doing, lest it cause a weaker brother to stumble.
But before you say "Gee, what a noble gesture", while what I said is still true, in all fairness, about five years ago, I found that beer gives me wicked acid reflux now for some reason, so I couldn't drink it if I wanted to.
usually ONLY a cup of wine for christman dinner, a glass of champaign new years eve, pretty much that for the year!

....I heard from a friend that McDonald's is testing the sale of beer and wine at select stores. I can't verify this, as it is strictly a rumor, but it would surprize me!
