Wise and Foolish Virgins

The Kingdom of the Heavens is nothing but the rule of the heavens over the earth. Currently, Satan is on that throne. During the coming age (the Millinium), it will be Christ's rule, and we can share in that. (Personally, I don't want a share in the current rule, but many do.)

 

Haughty? How about common sense?

In my congregation, we run the gamut from college professors to 8th grade dropouts. Guess what? Those 8th grade dropouts can comprehend what "present tense" means and what "singular" or "plural" mean.

But, those aren't the ones to whom that statement was directed. That statement was directed to certain students who had not diligently prepared themselves and then wanted to learn Greek. When someone wants to claim a great, indepth knowledge and then act in ignorance, that's the person to whom such a comment would be directed.

You are quite correct that a person doesn't need a college knowledge, but they do need some sense. When you look at a word and it is plural or present or active (yes, my 8th grade dropouts understand active, passive, and middle as well), and just absolutely deny it because it doesn't fit what you want it to fit, that is neither guidance from the Holy Spirt, nor is it sense.

That is not thinking "one is wrong just because one does not see something the same as a professor taught another." That is ignorance.

The ones who see that they had oil at one time and then want to discuss what that means, are not being willfully ignorant. The ones who see that "righteousness" is plural and want to discuss what it means are not being willfully ignorant. The ones who want to discuss (or even debate or argue) what is there instead of making up stuff and making suppositions, are not being willfully ignorant.

To simply say, "No it isn't there!" is being willfully ignorant. It's akin to putting your hands over your ears and shouting "la la la la" so that you don't hear what is being said.

 

Neither is "Trinity". Do you believe in the Trinity, Bob?

It has to do with his rule, which is stated in Revelation to be for 1000 years.

The Bible says that Satan is currently the ruler, and I will go with that over the word of Bob any day.

David was anointed king long before he took the throne. Even after being de-kinged, Saul stayed on the throne, just as Satan is doing today. And David, just as Jesus is doing today, gathered those around him who would share in the ruling and reigning of that future kingdom.

The Bible clearly shows throughout the NT that the Kingdom is literal and future; there will be an earthly rule and a heavenly rule. The earthly rule has already been promised to someone, but those who are saved have been promised a heavenly rule if they endure.
