Basic paradigm regarding good works: They are all filthy rags without the imputed righteousness of Jesus, The Christ, The Son of the Living God. When God does not get the glory all is vanity.

Absolutely
Jesus said preach the gospel to every creature; not build monastaries and convents.

How bout orphanages & hospitals?
Real salvation is still by Grace through Faith...see Ephesians 2:8-10.

It was always that!

You might be a Reformed (whatever that is) Catholic and be a Jansenist, but you can't be a Roman Catholic.Jansenism has been suppressed by the pope for 300 years or so.

Encyclopaedia Britannica

"Old Catholic Church of the Netherlands, also called Jansenist Church of Holland, Dutch Oud-Katholieke Kerk van Nederland, small independent Roman Catholic church in the Netherlands that dates from the early 18th century. A schism developed in the Roman Catholic Church in Holland in 1702 when Petrus Codde, archbishop of Utrecht, was accused of heresy for suspected sympathy with Jansenism, a heresy emphasizing God’s grace and predestination, which was condemned by Pope Alexander VII in 1656."

So they were calvinistic Catholics?

Not sure about official dates of apostasy. Jude says certain apostates had crept in unaware to the churches. Paul said the mystery of iniquity was already at work.
Fast fwd: Constantine, The Great One, as emperor of Rome, called the so-called council of Nicea. The attendees were apostates from around the Empire. Constantine gave them special privileges including the deed to the Vatican. St. Helena, Constantine's mama, also contributed some holy land relics to get things going. The Vatican still has the deed, along with a lot of gold, artwork and other religious relics to be sure. What all of this has to do with New Testament Churches is not readily apparent. The Truth was already underground, literally.

As far a witnessing to Catholics, it is seldom a good idea to attack anyone's religion directly. The real witness is changed lives--not many Catholics have a clue. God knows them that are His. Some will be converted; some will not. Compromising sound doctrine is not part of the process. The religious world is overrun with false gospels.

Try preaching John 14:6 on the streets of your city. You may get arrested.

Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
