Woman on the Board

The Harvest

New Member
To begin with the verses that The Harvest is quoting in I Timothy:2 were given as instructions about prayer and the place of women in the church. And Timothy did not say God said, Timothy said, I said... I am sure I'm his elder also...

Sue
2 Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

God said everything from Gen 1:1-Rev 22:21

Thankful

The Harvest, you are taking scriptures out of context.

I would suggest that if you don't like what the women say on this board that you do not read their posts.

I don't think it is the intent of this board to be a place to belittle any one. Perhaps you need to temper your posts if I believe, I think, In my opinion.

Well Harvest, this is my last post on this thread. This conversation is not edifying to me. Some men do not have "ears to hear". However,I will leave you with a parting thought.

"One of the most valuable lessons we can ever learn is how to make it easy for other people to get along with us."

If we follow that logic, then when you are not at church, you are not saved.</font>[/QUOTE]Nope. It's called taking the Bible in context and rightly dividing the word of truth.

This is not church and men and women are treated equally here.

Thankful

I think we are all having trouble following YOUR
logic.

What does TV have to do with what you are talking about?

And who said that the Bible is not the inspired Word of God?

Are you trying to correct me by telling me to be silent?

I am concerned about your interpretation of the scriptures that you are quoting. Perhaps one of the Pastors on this Board can guide you.

I commend you for your gracefulness, Sister I Am Blessed 16!
You best of all seem to portray:

It is better to be kind than to be right.

2 Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine;

You are the ones who asked the question and started this subject. If you didn't want the truth, why did you ask?

Nope.

God allowed everything in the Bible to be there for a reason, but not everything in the Bible is to be taught as doctrine. For example, the words of Job's friends and the accusations of the scribes and Pharisees are recorded to supply the context for biblical teaching. Their words are contrary to God's truth. Furthermore, Paul explicitly makes distinctions between his opinions and the revealed truth of God.

I have been very pleased with the ladies on this forum and the entire board as well. I have especially liked the way some have posted photos lately so we could put a kind face to their informed views. I have meant to express my thoughts for several days but I have not taken the time. Thanks ladies and keep up the good work.
It has been my intent and prayer all along that the fundamental forum would also be a place where both women and men are valued, let's all keep it that way.
Murph

P.S. Incase anyone somehow missed my suttle suggestion let there be no more contentious words posted on this subject. And thanks to everyone who gave me the heads up on this situation, your help is greatly appreciated.

Ding dong! I missed a good argument!

Harvest, a forum is an open discussion, not a classroom. Not a church. Not a Sunday School. We don't even KNOW if some people here are guys or gals!

If the idea of an open discussion of ideas is offensive to you, maybe you are in the wrong place?

I have heard that there is no male or female in the body of Christ...

So we occasionally squeak up.

Oh Helen I missed it too! Dag-Nab-It! (Throwing my hat down on the dusty ground)(Ok so it wasn't dusty....it was frozen and had powdery snow)(I still threw my hat down)

Harvest...you are really blessed my gloves are on.

Only thing I got to say is .... "Get A Life". And you should read Proverbs 21: 19, 23.

C.S. Murphy..are all the men in Georgia like you? You got a brother? Whoop-pee!
Hee-hee!

Harvest,
With the verses you have quoted, are you saying that women should not speak on this board?

I asked this question to get the opinions, or Biblical stands of everyone. I am interested in what you are saying. I have taken part in several conversations here on the board. These conversation did include men and women.

What I am gathering is that women can say something, as long as they don't tell a man that he is wrong, making him a public example? Am I correct? Or is it that women have a place, but not with men involved?

I understand the verses you have quoted, and understand the woman's role, as God has placed them in. Do you believe it is wrong to speak when the man is not following the Bible? I don't gather this from your posts.

This is an open invitation to all women on the forum to disagree with me openly when they believe I am wrong. (Naturally, many of you have already done so without the need of an open invitation; well, this just makes it official.)

The opinions expressed by The Harvest do not reflect those of myself, the BaptistBoard (I assume), the Apostle Paul, or the Scriptures.

There are two specific places where Paul says that women must not teach or remain silent - 1 Cor. 14, and 2 Tim. 2. In both cases, Paul is discussing order in the church assembly; in the former, he is correcting errors that result in disruption to corporate worship, and in the latter, he is instructing his protegé Timothy on how to organize a local assembly.

Scripture teaches two other places in which women are to be subjected to men: to their husbands (Eph. 5:22-24), and to their fathers (Exod. 20:12).

So, in short:

The BaptistBoard ain't church.
I ain't your husband.
I ain't your daddy.

And anyone, such as Harvest, who attempts to assert male authority outside of those spheres, is a usurper.

Really, it has to make one wonder what trauma he
has suffered to make him this way. I feel a bit
sorry for him. But he does make me very grateful
for my son and stepson.

WRONG conclusion.

Also, please stop making personal attacks. Discuss the issue and leave someone's salvation to God.

Does ANYONE here truly believe that women are as good as men in the aggregate? In ANY thing?

Name ONE thing.

The best cooks are men.
The best music conductors are men.
Men are stronger.
Men have more physical endurance.
Men have more emotional stability.
Men have more discernment.
Men are stronger vessels for the Lord.
Men are less susceptible to deception.
In general, men are better than women in everything. Specific exceptions to this rule only PROVE the rule in general.

the reason?

We are trying to compete with the woman who can do one thing a man cannot do--create life.

You know what this thread is starting to look like? The song from "Annie Get Your Gun" entitled "I Can Do Anything Better Than You."

sigh....

In the meantime, Pure Words, it seems you are accusing God of blowing it when He created us! I am more than grateful my husband does not agree with you. We work as a team: his weak points are my strong points and vice versa. We appreciate each other immensely.
