This thread reminds me of the couple that got married. Before the wedding, they agreed he would make all the major decisions and she would make all the minor ones. Twenty years went by and a friend asked him about their agreement. The man replied, "In all these 20 years, I've never made a major decision!" FWIW & J/K

You just shot down a lot of posters on the BB! The purpose of this forum is to learn, share our opinions, fellowship with like believers, exalt and praise God and occasionlly "babble idly" as in some of the 'fun' threads.

Many people on this board have expressed this opinion that they should change another's opinion when it is wrong. I have asked this question before, but I am still having trouble understanding....How do you know for sure that the other person's opinion is wrong?

Even when one has scripture to back up what they are saying, many times it is a matter of interpretation.

And further if a person thinks that it is wrong, I believe they should just say so without attacking the other person (I'm not refering to anyone in particular)

It is like I am going to beat this into the ground until you agree with me.

I know there are scriptures that say we should show others the truth, but how do you know it is the truth?

And after you show them the truth, isn't it up to the individual to decide if it is the truth?

Many things which are argued that are false are easily shown as false with Scripture. The problems people have seeing the truth comes when they mix the things of the world with truth. Add in acceptance of the world and a refusal to separate makes it a difficult thing to change an opinion on a matter, that was readily dismissed in the past as being such.

So many people are ignorant of Holiness, and have never been taught nor have a desire to properly discern good and evil. Acceptance of these ways makes the "as long as you're saved, it doesn't matter" philosophy thrive.

You are so right, ruthi, to argue for truth. Sometimes this requires one to stand alone, or be redundant when stating facts. I am one that will sit quietly in a Sunday School class, with the presence of Godly men who have strong stands on the truth. The Baptist Board brings out the other side of me. The side that cannot sit by, ildy watching truth being walked over and disgraces God's Holiness.

All anyone needs to do is ask God, for wisdom and discernment. Many may do so, others don't, but there are the few who will see truth and cherish it for what it is. Too many will get a glimpse, then run because it steps on comfort.

No. Truth is not subjective to the listener. We do not decide if something is true. It is up to the listener to BELIEVE what is truth.

Did God say that women can't talk or express their opinions? No. But they shouldn't push their thoughts or opinions on men or disagree with men openly.

The truth that I think is important for people to believe is the plan of salavation.

Romans 10:9 If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him I am the way, the truth,and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

one can witness to Pagans, athiests,

They are against PC=political correctness
in that place.

Truth is NOT some ideal.
Truth is NOT some though pattern.
Truth is NOT some paradigm.
Truth is a person.

I have a problem with PC=political correctness.
It is PC to search for the Truth, but if you

To me, all of Scripture is important and just as true in any and every part.

I agree that the entire Bible, God's word is important. However, salvation is the pinnacle of the Baptist faith.

Perhaps I was not clear in my statement. I did not say that the only part of the Bible that is important to me is the plan of salvation. I said The Plan of Salvation is important.

You are absolutely correct in that all Scripture is important and is the inspired word of God and is true in every part. I totally agree with that.

I was trying to say that...All other truth of scripture will follow after one learns the truth of salvation and believes and accepts Jesus as their savior. The Holy Spirit will reveal truth to the believer. Understanding the Bible takes great study and prayer over the period of a Christian's life.

The Bible is very important to a Christian, but a person must become a Christian first. Since the Bible has no meaning for the unbeliever, it is important as a believer to tell them the plan of salvation.

Absolutely all scripture is important and ALL of it is true. But, the plan of salvation is one of the most important because without salvation, one cannot understand the wonderful truths contained in scripture.

When witnessing to a lost person; what do you show him first? The plan of salvation scriptures.

Scripture will back up scripture. Truth is plain when you live a Holy life. Many people mix todays culture with biblical interpretation. God gave us truth and one interpretation, with the ability to apply to many situations.
