For Scriptural definitions of pastors/elders/deacons and their gender, see 1&2 Timothy and Titus.
It is pretty clear for they who have no preconcieved notions that the church ought to "change with the times".

A boy in my 5th grade class had an opposing view. He said that Adam was smarter than Eve. Eve, he said, was tempted by a snake and gave in. But Adam was tempted by a naked woman. I guess he could understand giving in to a naked woman better than giving in to a snake. I wonder if that kid was clever or if he heard that line from someone else.Originally posted by mioque:

Adam was a lot more gullible than Eve, being deceived by a being with incredible supernatural powers is one thing, being deceived by a younger woman is simply embarassing.
The way many view that -- it is "perfect porn" because God "created" humans to be affected or stimulated when men view a naked woman.Originally posted by atestring:
Adam did not know that he was naked or that The woman was naked.
Actually a better way of saying this is that Eve was decieved, but Adam, who was by her side, knew what he was doing."Adam on the other hand was not deceived."

Does this allow for women Evangelist? </font>[/QUOTE]I surely hope every believing woman evangelizes and that every evangelist is not just exercising their gifts in the chruch building and bilking people of their money. A true evangelist does nopt like churches very well. Their passion is the souls of non-believers and winning them to Christ.Originally posted by atestring:

There is a difference between a pastor and a woman who has the blessing of the pastor to speak in the church he pastors.
If you take a look at the context of the time of the OT and NT women would be ruled out today in every high school youth ministry.Originally posted by PastorGreg:
It's not just the serving as a pastor that is forbidden in Scripture but the teaching of men in a spiritual context.
That reminds me of the time when I was in seminary and a young man asked a woman speaker who had been a missionary for about 30 years the question, "What gives you the right to be a woman missionary?" Her response was, "If there weren't so many lazy men like you we wouldn't have to go." He never said another word.Originally posted by atestring:
MANY PEOPLE THAT WANT WOMEN TO BE SILENT IN THE CHURCH GIVE LOTTIE MOON AND ANNIE ARMSTRONG OFFERINGS!
WOULD YOU GIVE TNE OF THOSE OFFERINGS?

I think the Bible makes it clear that the shepherds and elders should be men.
I don't believe in dividing over this issue.Adam's headship is illustrated in many ways in the creation account. For example, as soon as the woman was created, Adam named the woman: "She shall be called 'woman,' for she was taken out of man" (Gen. 2:23). This is significant, because to name someone or something in ancient times implied having authority over the one named (e.g., Gen. 17:5; 2 Kings 23:34; Dan. 1:7).
It is also highly revealing that when God gave instructions about moral responsibility, He gave these instructions to Adam (Gen. 2:16-17). And after the Fall, God first summoned Adam, not Eve, even though she was the one who had led him into sin. "Adam, where are you?" God said immediately following the Fall (Gen. 3:9). In Romans 5:12, Adam was held solely responsible for the Fall, even though Eve played a significant role.
Certainly one of Adam's failures in the Fall was his abdication of responsibility for leadership. Instead of obeying God and leading his wife, he disobeyed God and followed his wife's lead (by eating the fruit). For this reason, God begins His sentence against Adam, "Because you have listened to the voice of your wife" (Gen. 3:17). In the Fall, therefore, God's intended order of authority was reversed. As Gordon Wenham puts it, "Eve listened to the serpent instead of Adam; Adam listened to Eve instead of God."

No one is saying that the Bible teaches women are inferior!Originally posted by atestring:
Saying that women are inferior because Adams Wife ate the forbidden fruit first is not a good argument for women being inferior.
They won't even ordain their women as chaplains to work with just women in the military and hospitals.Originally posted by atestring:
Today women are treated as inferior by many churches and denominaions. One example is the fact that most Southern Baptist Churches will not ordain a woman to be an evangelist or a youth leader or a childrens minister but would ordain a man for the same roles.

These were women missionaries that were sent to a foreign country for the purpose of evangelism. But while they were there we do know they won people to Christ and churches were started. That is one thing the SBC often does not tell you. Ask some of those from other countries you knew from your seminary days. When I was in seminary I met several students who spoke about women starting the churches they attended in their home country.Originally posted by Marcia:
I don't get why the difference in English and non-English speaking countries?
Are these women also pastoring the churches?

When you say, "How does this match up the idea of Conservatives" do you mean that women should:
1) Not speak in church at all;
2) That women should not preach at all;
3) That women proclaim the Gospel (preach), but they should not be in the office of Pastor/Preacher; or
4) That women should be Pastor/Preachers?
