That's like saying if God ahbored polygamy, he would have told Solomon not to marry multiple women. The issue isn't addressed in 1 Kings because that wasn't the intent of the narrative. Likewise, the issue of disruption wasn't the intend of the letter to the Galatians.

You are confusing the issue. I stand by what I said. And the women aren't told to sit in silence, as much as they are told to LEARN in silence.

A common argument is that, if Paul's intend was to say "Bishops should be men", then he would have said "be a husband", or "be men", or, "be a husband of A wife". But he said a husband of ONE wife. Although polygamy was not a common practice at the time, bigamy and adultery were rampant, as was a permeation of polygamy into certain facets of Jewish society.

Wrong. The word "man" is used, in reference to a man running his household. If HE cannot run his own house, how is HE to be trusted to run a house of God.

Women pastors are banned, in scripture. You just cannot intellectualize your way out of that.

Verse 15 takes care of any contextual dispute, anyways. There is no way that verse is only talking about cultural, or church-specific issues.

There is no scripture that expressly bans women as pastors. The verses often cites can be used to give that implication, if those verse are removed from their context. The arguement there is that the context doesnt necessarily matter. Fair enough.

OTOH, even though there is scripture that permits women to preach, and to be judges, there is no scripture that expressly permits women to be pastors (although many point to the examples of Mary and Chloe as being leaders of house churches).

Whether one takes the position of yes or no on the issue or women pastors, it requires at least a cursory level of intellectualization. This is a very old argument, as any Presbyterian or Methodist will tell you. Interestinly, Pentecostal churches will allow women to be Pastors, but not Bishops.

Anyhoo, I think this discussion has been talked out. I personaly an not a fan of female pastors, but that's just me.

There are, and have been posted.

That context argument is rendered impotent at verse 15.

Marcia, 1 Tim 2:12-14 was addressed earlier, and has already been discussed. It's an admonition of adopting deceptive idolatrous practices, which were being spread through the women in the church.

Again, I'm not saying that this is a permission for women to be pastors, I'm simply saying that 1Tim2 is not a ban gainst women as pastors.

There's nothing in this passage that relates to idolatrous practices, which are not mentioned at all.

God says that women should not teach or have authority because man was made first and Eve was deceived. This has nothing to do with idolatry anywhere. The fact that God makes an issue of Adam being created first shows there is an order to be followed.

I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. 13For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner

And furthermore, if a man is to be the spiritual head of the wife, how can a woman be the spiritual head of men at church as a pastor?

This is not disobedient to Scripture. The Biblical texts are descriptive, not normative. We need to interpret the text faithfully and not just blindly accept everything at face value.

Since this is your 7th post, and the 4th thread on women pastor that you've responded to, did you come to BB with an agenda?

Yes, we need to interpret the text faithfully in light of Scripture. Christ is the head of the church, God is the head of Christ, Christ is the head of man and man is the head of women. God created man first then the woman. RIGHT - that's interpreting according to Paul.
