Women wearing pants are in sin

Molly, I like your attitude. It is about what is inside and living a life pleasing to the Lord. If someone, especially a saved person, chooses to wear pants that is their perogative. The Bible says something about happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

The only point I was trying to make is that once you have been shown something (regardless the area) you are then responsible to act on it.

But for those of us that have shown through scripture why we believe as we do, why would you want to mock us or pick us apart?

The pants/dress issue I believe it one that has been battled by Christians for quite a long while...and you know what I have found... There doesn't seem to be a right answer. It is not specifically addresses in the Bible...it has been interpretted to have been addresses...but in fact is not.

I used to wear dresses all the time because it was what my church taught me. But, I'm starting to realize that appearance can be deceiving... You cannot judge a book by it's cover. The heart is what matters to God. I wear dresses to church functions...casual functions or services...I wear dresses in the summer because it's cooler, and I wear dresses any other time I feel like it. But, I wear jeans and other types of pants when they would be more practical, at home, the park with my kids, the grocery store etc....because I found that I don't get as much done when I'm afraid of ruining my dress or tripping over it. And also I am quite frankly tired of my legs getting cold when it's snowing, raining or windy outside.(It is very windy here) My decision to wear dresses or not is not because of spritual conviction, but on personal preference to wear those things that are appropriate for the occasion.

I also think that too often woman who wear only dresses judge those who do not...and vise versa...and that is contradictory to having a Christian attitude. It's foolish for many reasons...one of which is because it causes contention and stife...and another because it detracts from truly spiritual matters.

How does your heart appear to God? What does your attitude reflect? That is a much more important issue than how your clothing appears to man. I don't think that believing otherwise is anything more than personal pride.

If when I get to heaven and God or one of his angels has a clipboard to check off the things I have done in this world to honor him...I doubt seriously " wore dresses " will be on the list.

Hello DD,
Welcome! I am also a very busy homeschool mom. Let's see, here are some things I have done in dresses. I have played with my children at the playground, got down on the floor with them, cooked, cleaned, gardened, shopped, taken long walks pushing strollers, rode a bus once, taken them to museums and zoos, and just about anything else they do we do together.
I did have to give up certain things that I love to do. Swimming is actually my favorite sport. However, I do not go to the public pool not because I can't find something to wear but because I personally do not like looking at women or men in thongs and other such things. I do not ride horses at present but I have heard of young girls who wear very wide skirts and bloomers underneath. Bloomers are wonderful for little girls to help them with modesty until they know how to sit and act like a lady with their legs closed and their dresses down covering their legs.

Ok. I will Edit this! But I am tired of HLC thinking she has this all better and more powerful relationship with God just because she wears a dress or head covering. If this is what keeps someone from going to our Lord, you will be held accountable. Because she and others have definately caused a stumbling block. I am not changing anything else, or apologizing. God sees and hears us because we wear Jesus. For no other outer garment. Perhaps this topic should be in the Pentecostal section.

I think HCL is always trying to come accross as........ I am also sick of almost every thread having this topic and the headcovering topic on it. I am tired of it being pushed on me.

I have Jesus so I am not held under by the law of Moses. Adam and Eve wore clothes made from God before they were set out of the Garden of Eden. And guess what...they weren't dresses or pants as we are talking about.

Making new rules to have a correct relationship with God is wrong. The only thing we need to wear to have that right relationship with God is Jesus. and in Heaven I will be given a new robe. God sees me in the bath tub with nothing on...as well in church with my dress on. God talks and walks with me while I wear my jeans, and I have a lot of other things to worry about, instead of putting my pants on.

So while you sit there at your computer and make everyone think you are holier than the rest of us, and try to convict others, I in my pants, (Jeans to be exact) will go to the Lord in prayer.

Also this is why I quit going to the womens forum. It is because this stuff is always throwed at us. now its here. When will it stop!

anything that required wearing pants. When
he learned about my love for motorcycles, he
asked me how I rode them in a skirt! 8o)
When I responded that it would be immodest
to ride in a skirt, he responded that I should not,
then, ride motorcycles.

Well, I did not quit, nor did I stop climbing up and
working on my house, crawling under my car to
fix a loud muffler, etc. As a widow rearing two
chiildren by myself, if I had stopped, I would not
have have been able to do many necessary
things--if I had believed that the Bible prohibited
women wearing pants.

Rather, the Bible teaches us to dress modestly
and to look like women. These are what I concen-
trate upon in my choices of clothing.

My clothing, deportment, and even my hairstyle
are chosen in an effort to please our God. In my
effort to do these things, I wear pants. I believe
that for me, for my body shape, for my age, for
my activities, pants are the most modest.

We all can be so passionate about things. I
know I am! 8o) But all these little extra things
will not save anyone of us--only the precious
blood of our Holy Lord will suffice in that.

In 1Cor11 it talks about men and women's hair, then it says in vs14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

I'm stumped over this as well, because all the pictures of Jesu I've seen, well, he's got long hair. It was a common and acceptible practice for Jewish men at the time.

I am not a 24/7 dress wearer. Never have been, probably never will. I tend to be one who wears whatever is comfortable for the activity I will be doing.

BUT, I do, during the normal part of my work week wear dresses. They are very casual dresses, unless it is Sunday. Sometimes during the evening, if it has been a day where I have worn my comfies, and I have a date, I will wear a dress. When I started doing this a few years ago, it was a comfort thing. It was too hot to wear slacks and I didn't think it right to wear shorts. So, I wore dresses.

This past week, I wore slacks all week. I kind of felt odd doing it. I finally started wearing dresses again.

I am not saying that everyone should always wear dresses. I certainly don't. But I do love wearing them.
Why did I feel odd?

Maybe for several reasons.
1.) I have come to feel very feminine in dresses. I can, though, feel feminine in pants, but not as feminine. I do, though, think you can be feminine in both, but you have to be wary of presentation.
2.) When I wear a dress, I don't fight with the men as much.

Would it be ok for a male to go into a females clothing store and purchase and wear a pair of pants made for a female? NO. The button is on the wrong side and they are cut wrong.

Females are entitled to wear clothing designed for females. The idea behind what the bible is saying is concerning crossdressing in the transexual lifestyle.

Woman comes along wearin' men's stuff--slacks, shirts, shoes, and bobs her hear off and combs it to look like a man---a big ole red flag begins to make its way up the flagpole--"Something ain't right here! Gotta check it out!"

I've never been able to detect--but I've suppose it to be true--I've got friends who will swear on a stack of Bibles that there are men who dress themselves up to look like women---walkin' up and down the streets of the French Quarter down in New Orleans--

I tell you what, fellas! God has placed me as judge of my household--and when my wife starts dressin' like me--I can put a clamp on that. When my little boy wants to grow his hair long in the back to where if he's on the school bus and little Joey can't tell if that's Blackbird's boy sittin' up there in front of him or if its little Suzy--me and my little fella--we'll take us a trip to the barber--and if the Barber can't do it--Blackbird knows someone who can!!

Men need to dress to look like a man!!!!

Women need to dress to look like a woman!!!

I disagree,I think a statement saying HCL is self righteous is wrong and she should be apologized to. I may not agree with everything she says,but I can love and respect her attitude of striving to serve God in those areas of her life,in fact,I think it is precious to God to see that kind of humbleness that would put away selfish wants and desries and try to do what is best.

I have always read her posts,she has not been judgemental,nor has she said all women are going to hell if they do not do this. She has a peace about her life and she shares it,hoping she can encourage someone else in their walk with the Lord. It does not bother me,nor does it offend me in my walk...why does it bother others here?

There is a difference between discussing differences of views,which all of us do,and then getting down right personal and ugly....I happen to think we all need to step back and really see this issue for what it is,and converse in a godly manner,while loving one another and being kind,tenderhearted,forgiving....which is what Ephesians teaches us...isn't it wonderful that God doesn't just tell us what not to do,but He gives us the right attitudes to replace them with. let's focus on being that kind of christian. Esp when we disagree.

Like I said before,I do not always wear dresses...I have a sweet friend that does,she and her daughter always come to our bible study in dresses,she would never wear pants...I think it is lovely and do not feel threatened at all. They are also very godly,much like HCL in their meek and quiet spirit,there is much to be learned for all of us....

Headcoveredlady gave scriptural reasons why she does what she does. That is more than I can say for alot of people I know personally. I can admire and respect someone who is willing to endure mockery because he/she is convinced of the Word.

things right before our God. I love to be obedi-

It is my opinion, although it is neither a studied
opinion nor one for which I can presently present
proof, that self-righteousness is not, in itself,
condemned; rather, it is depending upon one's
own self-righteousnesss that is condemned.
What I do and will not do will not get me into
the kingdom: only the precious blood of the
Messsiah can do that.

Headcovered Lady loves what she does and
she talks about it freely. She loves to follow
Scriptures as she perceives them and she very
softly encourages others to do the same. She
feels good about what she does and she passes
on much joy in it and in other things she shares.

Sherrie loves what she does and talks about
various things freeely. I note often that she is
one of the first to encourage those in difficult
places and to pray for them. She often also has
something to tell to make us laugh--my favorite
passtime.

I love my synagogue. I love to talk about it, the
things we believe, the things we do.

We all three are passionate women, and perhaps
all of us would possibly have to say that we are
all self-righteous in some ways. Am I right?

But again, is it the self-righteousness or the
depending upon our own righteousness that is
condemned? What do you think? While none
are truly righteous, and it is onlyu our God's
righteousness that is anything, we alll three
seem to really desire to do the right things. Ii
think that is commendable, but some may see it as self-righteousness at least.

You people keep saying that this is Moses's Law, It is GOD'S LAW, Moses only delivered the message. What do you do with 1John2:3-7 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. I don't know what Jesus you have seen. If you are talking about those images made up by man, well that's what the antichrist is going to look like. If in 1Cor11 it says it is a shame for a man to have long hair, then I don't think Christ would do something that would bring shame to His name or to His cause.

Johnv, I have actually heard the exact opposite: that it was common practice in Jesus' time for men to keep their hair cut.

What I've heard, and never been able to substantiate one way or the other, is that Michelangelo is the culprit for our long-haired Jesus.

Seriously, I do feel that men should look like men, and women should like like women. It is all right for women to dress in slacks, as long as it is "feminine." I know, that is subjective, but I think most can figure it out. Shorts on a woman --- well, that depends on how pretty her legs are!
