Except that she doesn't work for the federal government. She's an official elected by the citizens of Rowan County. She works for them.

I didn't distinguish between federal and local government. She works for the government of Rowan County.

If she cannot do what she was elected to do, resign.

Actually, because she was elected, she works for the citizens of Rowan County, not the government of Rowan County.

If she cannot do what she was elected to do, resign.

I agree. And she did exactly what she was elected to do.

but about the only way I know of to reverse a Supreme Court decision is to actually amend our Constitution. To my limited knowledge, that's only been done once in our history when the Constitution was amended to once again allow the usage of alcoholic beverages to "adults."

Huh?

List of dozens of decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court that have been abrogated, in whole or in part, by a subsequent constitutional amendment or Congressional statute.

List of dozens of decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court that have been overruled by a subsequent decision of the Court.

That's not new.

But it's a GOVERNMENT job. If she can't do what the GOVERNMENT is asking her to do, then resign.

The scummy government created this issue, so let the scummy government grow a set and expell her, impeach her whatever....dont be pansys and expect her to shoot herself. What do they expect, everyone to fold just because?!?

Since she cannot be removed from office unless she is impeached, is she still collecting her salary while she is in jail?

She was elected in part to issue marriage licenses. She's not issuing any.

It is also her job to decide if any two people applying for a license are deemed appropriate and to receive a license. In her eyes, same-sex individuals did not meet the traditional requirements. That is the job of all county officials and their deputies, to enforce laws and standards.

The SCOTUS decision is not a legal law. It is merely a ruling and an interpretation, and it goes against traditional marriage, which fr the history of the US was one man and one woman!

She exercised the better part of judgement in deciding that same-sex individuals did not meet the letter of the law, even if that law was not deemed legal in the eyes of a supreme court of fools!

You do understand the concept of Case Law? The SC has declared it so, and it is law...like it or no.

(To all respondents: No, I do not approve of homo-marriage, and I am neither a Moderate or a Liberal.)

A few gays asking for a license does not the majority who elected her make! :BangHead:

I was speaking of the county officials, i.e. her employer. Surely you realize that saying "she works for the citizens of the county" is not a literal statement.

I think I am tracking what you are saying! No problem! Still, as a pastor, I fear, that the day may come when we will be forced to do weddings and funerals and even counselling or face legal action against us! That is not far fetched :tear:

I know you are not homo! Your comment reminds me of Bill Murray's "Stripes" when the recruit named Psycho told the platoon, "don't any of you homo's ....."

I would have no problem counseling a (h-s) couple. But then again, they may not like the counseling they recieve.

I would also do a funeral, but the family would have a good ideal what I might say...

Some find using the term "queer" as offensive and derogatory.

I do agree that we should NOT use the term "gay"

All of the gays in our mobile park refer to themselves as "gay!" At least out here in lala land. But queer is like the "N" word to blacks. Sorry. :flower:

But why is it in the acronym for the whole of those who are practicing sinful sexual lifestyles? LGBQT.....whatever all of the letters are....
