1 John 511 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

It would seem the consensus here from the Catholics is that you must believe in Jesus and keep his commandments, follow him, etc.

My question for these Catholics is do you KNOW that you have eternal life, or do you hope that you continue obeying God's commandments and that you are good enough?

I KNOW that I have eternal life because I have placed my hope and trust in the death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and he promises that those who believe on him have (PRESENT TENSE) everlasting life.

If you don't KNOW that you have eternal life, than you have no light to give anyone about salvation.

24For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? 25But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.

Wow you nailed it on the head. According to scripture you don't have any hope at all.

If you already KNOW IT, that is not hope at all.

Scripture says : hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?

We getting saved IN HOPE, not out of it.

Faith actually involves trust. I don't need a signed certificate from God, It would be a compromise to the TRUST.

Salvation is not the priority. Love God and Love neighbor is.

Paul is just "waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons,"

Put in a good word for us if you already a son instead.

Don't be like some folks who are like a sore winner who only calls it a win when he comes out on top, and then there is the person who puts others before themselves, who actually loves others.

God has already called us His sons...we are awaiting the manifestation, glorification, of His sons.

Romans 8:19, 23 (KJV) For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
