Bob Harrington, this man, was called the "Chaplain of Bourbon Street" in the '70's, because he ministered to the characters there on that famous street in New Orleans. I heard him preach once back in the day--he had a lot of flash. Sad that he wandered away from the Lord for so long.

I once read a book on such cases. The author surveyed preachers who had cheated on their wives and lost their ministry. The most common regret was just that: they had lost their ministries. What a privilege it is to serve God, and how foolish to throw it away.

It's God that's doing the 'not remembering' in the passages, and it's not on account of dementia that God doesn't remember.

12 For I will be merciful to their iniquities, And their sins will I remember no more. Heb 8
17 And their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. Heb 10

The grace and faith of God for the believer remains steadfast, never failing.

Certainly, in the midst of all that this section of the forum does battle over, we should all rejoice when evidence of one repugnant believer repents.

Do not the angels rejoice when even one truly repents?

They certainly don't over the worldly being sorry.

I remember Bob Herrington, I remember his fall, and now to know that he repented and was again embraced by the family is a whole lot worth rejoicing.

Too often the assembly has scorned the truly repentant rather then allowing the example to profit.

Unless the open all boundaries / designations dispensed is heavily monitored and regularly held to a standard then I really wouldn't want to be a part.

For example.
Inappropriate or questionable language is becoming more regular even on some of the BB forums.

It is not as if the moderators/administrators can catch all infractions, but at least on some level of activity there is a certain level of inappropriateness that isn't tolerated.

I am all for giving credit where credit is due (i.e. the blessings of God) but would not blame God for causing this person to turn away from righteousness. Not to turn this into a debate, but does not this post dispute your thinking of “free will?”

If “God causes or allows whatsoever comes to pass,” the nothing happens that God is not ultimately responsible and does not conflict with your views concerning “freedom of the will?”

I like your view Van, I am coming face to face with myself and realize how far I have to go.
My inclination is to be one with Him as He prayed.
