An interesting urban legend I heard the other day was that God only chose to save some people and that he determined to send other people to Hell, with no chance at salvation. What a crock!

Election is in the Bible, friend. I don't take it to the double, supra predestination extend, but it's there.

And God created us. We're like an anthill in the universe. He is our Maker and is just to do with us what he wants.

Be thankful for grace. You want to debate, debate, but don't attack others' orthodox beliefs.

Besides, God didn't send them to hell. They are going on their own accord. God simply passes unbelievers by to their own fate.

    Cheers,

    Bolded mine

But, does this not mean that the individual has a choice - their own accord-----to their own fate?

This is the wrong forum for debate..............but, all the elect will be saved,,,,,,,,by whatever means God uses.......All humankind are guilty of sin, not by choice, but in Adam. Because of their sinful nature, they will choose death.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Salty should know better than to place these topics in a fellowship forum

I took a quick look at a couple of the pages. I've heard of most of them, I'd guess 4 out of 5.

Besides spam the next biggest scourge of email is the constant forwarding of urban legends. I used to reply to them with rebuttals and links to factual articles disproving them, but I get the same urban legend emails from the same people time and time again.

Sometimes I find some emails hard to ignore. My latest crusade is trying to educate people that Thomas Jefferson was not a Christian and please stop forwarding quotes by Mr. Jefferson as if he was a great economist or a great war planner.

I honestly think the Democrats create a lot of the urban legends about the Obama's in order to divert attention away from his horrendous deficit spending. While the right wing is spending their time wondering about Obama's missing classmates at Columbia or the fact that he removed a bust of Churchill from the Oval Office (how dare he!), the left continues to run up the debt load.

Yes, he has a choice for his whole life. But he will never choose God unless God draws him. But it's still a choice.

Stand in front of my daughter and hold a plate of pasta in one hand and a plate of shrimp in the other. Is it a choice? Absolutely. Will she ever choose shrimp? Never. EVER. EVER!! But it was still a choice, none-the-less.

I find a simple "reply to all" with "I just looked this up on Snopes - here's the link. It seems as if this is (urban legend, partially true, true)" (fill in the blank) It seems to work well.

I'm sorry to have to say this, but based on the outlandish e-mails that get sent my way from brothers and sisters in Christ and things that I hear people on the internet swearing to that are so OBVIOUSLY stupid, I have come to this conclusion .....

.... Christians are some of the most gullable and ignorant people that I know.

Many of them will believe and forward ANYTHING!!!!

And it drives me absolutely batty! :BangHead:

I have offended a handful of wonderful and sweet people by suggesting that they use snopes before they repeat things that they read or hear.

I don't bother telling anyone to check Snopes. I just phrase it as I did earlier and HOPEFULLy they can see that they too can find out the information just as easily as I can!! I haven't offended anyone .... yet.

These urban legends just kill me. The one I didn't see with my quick glance is the one where George Bush led a someone to the Lord at a fund raising banquet, child I think. One lady in our church refused to believe it was false even when confronted with the truth. I guess some people would rather believe a good story then a hard truth.
