The following questions, if answered in the affirmative, should indicate that you or your church isn’t following the teachings of the scriptures.

If you disagree, please show from scriptures that women were given the right to be anything but “shamefaced” and “silent,” and that men did not have all political and spiritual authority to not only run the church but the social politics of a country.

The list:

Do women have the right to express their opinion if there is no man to do so in the church?

Do women sit as teachers and in leadership positions in the church over males of any age?

Do women have the scriptural authority speak in public (in church or even in public forum such as this)?

Do women have the right to rebuke an adult male whether verbally, written or in displays of attitude and not stand in conflict with the church?

I'll take a stab at the bear:

1 Corinthians 11:5 "But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven."

Acts 18:24-26 "24And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly. "

Romans 16:1-2 "I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea: That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also. "

Amy - Don't you know we're not supposed to be talking????? I think we are supposed to just serve the men the food - but make sure our faces are covered and our eyes averted.

WHY DOESN'T SHE ZIP HER LIP PRONTO??? THESE ARE MEN!

PERSISTENT LITTLE LADY, ISN'T SHE?
NAUGHTY!

GASP
OH NO SHE DIDN'T!!!

See Matthew 15:28 to see how Jesus told her off for her brazen violations of societal male primacy.

Can we all agree from the Bible , that the prespective of GOD on this topic is that while men and women were BOTH made in image of God, equals, they each do have distinctive/different roles to fulfill?

That in regards to the local church set up...

men have been ordained by God as being the "chief/top" head authority for spiriual leaderships positions?

Due to what paul called the principle of "headship" in the Bible..

men would have ultimate authority as regarding teaching/preaching etc the Bible, but MUST do all of that in the Biblical model of being a servant unto the Lord, in right attitude and mindset, as they are just shephards to flock that God has given over them on "loan!"

Sort of, but not that men are the chief/top" head authority as if there is some authority under them. They are to be the only authority directly under Christ.

Older women are called on to teach the younger women how to love their husbands.

Boy, reminds me of my older brother when we were kids, if he saw a beehive he just had to mess with it, couldn't leave it alone. One day he knocked down a large hive and those bees came right after him. He got stung about 30 times and had to be taken to the hospital for several days, it almost killed him. He left beehives alone after that.

But some folks never learn.

The list: I'm going be lazy and just describe practice here, rather than the biblical reasons for doing so...

I don't even know what this means... are you describing a situation where all the men are somehow gone? If so, should the women sit in a circle and say nothing?
-Also, we allow women to speak and even vote in church business meetings.

1. Women teaching childenr in SS: YES
2. Women sometimes teaching teens in SS: Yes
3. A woman being given a whole Sunday evening to speak about the her recent trip to Israel and the historical aspects of it that relate to the Bible and Christ, after which she acknowledge the pastors for letting her to it. (under authority still!): YES

-Yes,

-If she is personally offended by an adult male, she should probably get her husband to address the man one-to-one. If she is a widow, it may be appropriate for her to with gentleness correct him. I'm not sure what you are envisioning here. But we do have women disagree with us (in a civil manner) in sunday school discussions, and we welcome that.
-I would say ANYONE male of female who rebukes someone should do so carefully, so as not to do it in a sinful way.

So I guess our church is four for four...and we are complimentarians! :)

I was not stating what was going on but what the bible teaches. Very few churches to day follow the bible as it is givem. They have a form if what it says but they tend to do what they want to please the people.

To answer your questions
1) yes
2) the church I am a member at has no control on what happens overseas.
3) no

Well this thread went nowhere fast...that's too bad.

And I can't even think of anything controversial to say...

...except we had a woman read scripture in church this morning....AAAHHH!

(The whole family came up: Wife read scripture, son lit the advent candle, then the husband prayed...we always do this "family-style" for the 4 weeks of advent.)

girly men or manly women???

I can see by the responses that either the "spiritual men" of this forum don't want to offend the women, or the women are joyfully filled with pride at usurping the authority of the home and men of the church. I wonder if they even share the popcorn with the men.

What is the matter with declaring what the scriptures teach on this matter?

If a woman has a problem, question, or statement; she is to express it to her husband in the home. A woman is ALWAYS under the authority of a man (why the woman is “given” in marriage and a man is not). The unmarried woman should go to the authority over her living to seek and express.

In the church, and by extension the public, the woman is to keep silent. By speaking through a single voice, the home then presents a united front.

If this is not scripturally correct, then show by what scriptural authority the women of the modern church present themselves as soloists (for women are allowed to sing in groups) and or as teachers of men, rather than shamefaced, not wearing any jewelry, and silent.

Bible verses for this? I already posted verses that contradict what you say here. You have a "man's opinion", not God's opinion.

#1 - If women could prophesy in public, why can't they sing?

#2 - I agree that women are not to be teachers of men.

#3 - There is no Scripture that says that women can't wear jewelry and need to be silent at all times. You have just contradicted God and that is a dangerous place to be.
