I'm starting this thread because I would like some of your thoughts on just who you believe Cain's wife was? I believe that Cain married a sister, or a relative. People lived hundreds of years then, and Cain would have had lots of distant relatives from which to get his wife. God had not given any laws concerning marriage as of yet, and Scripture states clearly that Eve is "the mother of all living", Genesis 3:20. There is a person on here that believes that God created a whole different race of people apart from Adam and Eve. They believe God created the different races (black, white, asian, etc.) separately.

I personally invite that person (robycop) to join this discussion. His belief raises some serious questions......like.................did God create these new "races" as adults or children? Did He create them with a "sin nature" or did they "fall" like Adam and Eve? Where is your Scripture for that belief?

So, where does everyone think Cain's wife came from? I already shared my belief. What is yours?

After Adam and Eve were created, God rested and the Bible says everything in the heavens and earth were completed. Ergo, God did not create anyone else in that same manner that He created Adam and Eve from the ground and from the bone.

That, coupled with Eve being the mother of all the living, teaches that Cain's wife had to be a sister, niece, or great-niece.

One has to ask why the Law - thousands of years later - was so prohibitive of things such as foods to eat, ways to prepare them, people to marry, "cleanliness" laws, and so on.

I don't see God as a Supreme Being tormenting His creation and His Israelite people with random and meaningless laws, but rather as a God who is protecting his people from themselves and their own defective natures and flesh - and sometimes the purpose of those laws weren't always understood by people then or today.

Why would God tell people not to marry close relatives? We have discussed this before, but I think every knows that the more harmful mutations that a species contains in its DNA, the more chance for those mutations to be passed along if parents are sibling, parent/child, and other close relations.

It's not that incest has its foundations in being morally perverse, but it's morally perverse because it carries with it greater chances of passing along mutations that are unacceptable (medically damaging) to future generations (not all mutations being unacceptable).

Exactly! My belief is the same as yours. I patiently wait for robycop to join and see what he has to say. He is the one who refused to answer anything about what he believes in another thread because "it was in the wrong forum" which is why I started this thread. Again, roby, I ask you to join in.

How about Lilith's half-sister from Krypton?

That Cain had a wife is scripture. Who, when, where, why and how are speculation, regardless of how educated one's guesses might be.

There was a world population, no census available, that perished in the Flood. The gene pool was preserved through the sons of Noah. The nature to sin was also passed on through the genes. All of mankind, regardless of melanin levels in the skin, inherit the sin nature which originated with the first man--Adam. Example: all of mankind dies physically and spiritually, having alienated ourselves from God.

Purity of race is a peculiar notion which evolved(?) thanks to Charles Darwin, etal. Gene pools have been scattered around the globe by explorers, conquistadors, and merchants of various persuasions.

Evolution is a lie. Now what?

    Even so, come Lord Jesus.

Not really sure what you're trying to say. Do you think God "could have" created another whole race of people, as roby believes, or what?

I believe, as I said in my OP, that Cain married a sister or relative. I don't believe that's an "educated guess". I believe Scripture affirms that.

Since Romans 5 makes it clear that sin came through Adam, if there were another race independent of Adam, there would be an entire race of sinless people.

"And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living." Gen 3:20

"And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit." 1 Cor 15:45

An obvious spoof from beautiful downtown Burbank,my sarcasm is trying to say: speculation and unwarranted inference turn out to be mostly vanity and vexation of spirit. The world is filled with churches based on man's speculation--all the way back to Cain changing the type of the sin sacrifice.

Did he have a wife then?

This is not about what one believes but rather: "Thus saith The Lord, in the whole counsel of God"--not what God could have done. He has revealed all we need to know, in 66 books. We love to dwell in the world of the extra-biblical.

Sorry, I am not trying to derail.

    Even so, come Lord Jesus.

I think it was Billy Sunday (but I may be wrong) who was confronted by a man who told him he would become a believer if Sunday could tell him where Cain got his wife. Sunday replied, "You won't be the first person who went to hell because he was thinking about some other man's wife."

Speculation is indeed the mother of false doctrine. If Adam and Eve were the parents (or grand parents or great grand parents) of every human, including Cain's wife, then Cain married a close relative. The Gene pool was presumably very pure, with very few mutations, so the risk of passing inbred weaknesses like a royal family line, was low in the early generations. Later, God provided protection, by making intermarrying with close relatives a no no.

The corruption of the fall is passed spiritually, not physically, as demonstrated by Eve's eyes being opened when Adam sinned.

Have you been to a funeral lately? The wages of sin is death. We are separated from God physically and spiritually. Jesus is the only remedy.

We are quickened, made alive in Jesus, sealed with the Holy Spirit, and given the promise of an incorrupt body on the other side of the grave--with Jesus forever.

    Amazing Grace.

    Even so, come Lord Jesus.

Is that thread where Roby says God created different races? If so, please provide the link.

So, B4L, U don't think I have the courage to reply? Well, you've been badly fooled!

So, you STILL believe God condoned incest between full siblings?

    HORSE FEATHERS!

Incest is about as strong a "taboo" as there is, even among people who've never hearda God. And we know, without a doubt, that such incest usually produces a 'defective' child, who is both mentally and physically inferior to other children.

That 'pure gene pool' stuff is also horse feathers. We have the same gene pool as all homo sapinns have ever had. what's changed is the condition of the earth. Even after A&E sinned, the earth itself was still pretty pristine. And it remained so after the Flood, with diseases, etc. slowly spreading. By David's time, a person past age 70 was rare.(I realize Dave's life was cut short by CHF as parta his punishment for his earlier great sins, but again, people older than 70 were rare.)

As for the races...Like produces like, just as GOD said. Black people with no other racial ancestry always produce black children. So do whites, Asians, etc.
There are five distinct races of people-white, black, Asian, "Indian"(Mongols, American Indians, Ilyuts, etc.) and Bushmen. Each reproduces after its own kind if there's no interracial mixing in their ancestry. Now, I'd liketa see an explanation for the races, besides that silly 'pure gene pool' stuff. And NO, they were NOT 'mutants. A mutant of any creature does not reproduce itself, but reproduces likenesses of its parents.

Now, I have NOT unequivocally ever said that GOD produced other people to provide spouses for A&E's children, and Noah's grandchildren. But I HAVE said that such creation is one possibility of where those people obtained spouses. What I AM saying is that GOD did NOT condone incest between full siblings. And we see the CURSE of the "mystery, Babylon" religion descended from the incestuous union of Nimrod with his own mother Semiramis.

However we answer the spouse-origin question is conjecture, as Scripture is silent about it. And it's also silent about the origin of the races. But Scripture is NOT silent about INCEST! The closest incest GOD condoned was between half-siblings, such as Abraham and Sarah. But He later forbade that among the Israelis after they left Egypt.

And, it's clear that God had given other laws to mankind, even before they were written. For example, Cain knew he'd done wrong by whacking Abel, and we see Reuben getting in trouble for laying with Bilhah, his father's concubine. So, saying man didn't know not to commit incest is no excuse!

And, as I said umpteen times before, on other boards, I am open to any answer where Cain's wife came from that DOESN'T INVOLVE INCEST! Same for a VALID explanation of where the various races came from.

Well, the one who God called out of his homeland, to give him a new land to dwell in, he, Abram at that time, married his half-sister, Sarai.

Race does not always beget race. Look up white couple has black baby, black couple has white baby; there's a ton of them.

I'd suspect there'd be more to this than just a "white couple having a black baby", or vice versa. My wife and I are both white, and she can't have any children, but if she had been able, and the baby came out any other race than that of white, I'd be finding me a divorce lawyer, pronto. I'm highly skeptical of scenarios such as these. I could be wrong, but I am still highly skeptical.

These were couples where there was no infidelity/adultery at all. Naturally, that would be a suspicion, but there were tests done on the babies that proved that those couples were the biological parents, and the babies still came out opposite color. Sometimes I think God does it on purpose just to mess with racists' heads!
