What you do not get, or resist is the fact that trained men who can open up the scriptures are given by God as gifts to the church in Eph4...

You want to suggest that the Spirit of God cannot work in and through many men through Church History who speak ...scripture , not bedate fallacies, logical carnal reasoning...no..instead the Spirit is given so we can compare spiritual things with Spiritual things...1 cor 2
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

The very idea you try and use to undermine these godly men, is the very thing that condemns the worldly philosophy and debate rules you want to replace scripture with...Your lack of response to 12 strings demonstrates it.

Hey AIC, lets put that to the test!

Write your understanding of sanctification, calling, repentance out in one or two paragraphs.....do not use any other book other than your bible...lets see what you have got....

In other words...if all books and bibles were confiscated and you had to write what you believe ....starting from scratch.....

here..write out what you believe here offering any verses you think support your position
Pick out a few 3,4,5 topics and write here on BB what you would want us to know...from being as well taught as you have been.

I challenge everyone here as a spiritual exercise....get a note book and write out your own CONFESSION OF FAITH......no cheating!!! let's see what you have got.....:type:

Of God and the Holy Trinity
    Of God's Decree
    Of Creation
    Of Divine Providence
Of the Fall of Man, of Sin, and of the punishment thereof
    Of God's Covenant
    Of Christ the Mediator
    Of Free Will
    Of Effectual Calling
    Of Justification
    Of Adoption
    Of Sanctification
    Of Saving Faith
Of Repentance unto Life and Salvation
    Of Good Works
Of the Perseveraance of the Saints
Of the Assurance of Grace and Salvation
    Of the Law of God
Of the Gospel and the Extent of Grace thereof
Of Christian Liberty and Liberty of Conscience
Of Religious Worship and the Sabbath Day
    Of Lawful Oaths and Vows
    Of the Civil Magistrate
    Of Marriage
    Of the Church
    Of the Communion of Saints
Of Baptism and the Lord's Supper
    Of Baptism
    Of the Lord's Supper
Of the State of Man after Death, and of the Resurrection of the Dead
    Of the Last Judgement

if you do not cheat...I will guarantee you will not exceed what the confessions already contain.....can you be honest enough to do it.???

you pulled this out of the 1689 right! Im not Christianizing....when I 1st was regenerated in my understanding of things, formally I was a lapsed Presbyterian. I used the Westminster to orientate myself ...as a good guideline (along with scripture). I then began to study 1689 & finally to compare & contrast, I sat in on a few studies at Trinity in Montville. Other than that, I never had any training in scripture. If I had gone to the Presbyterians, they would have chastised me for even speaking to a Reformed Baptist & when I went to Trinity, I was looked at with suspicion for having been a Presbyterian. So I had to sort out what my belief system truly was. Today, I gravitate to a total Sovereign Grace theology but I did use both Westminster & 1689 as guide posts.

When I was a catholic we did a a lot of creed reciting. It, of course, very quickly degenerated into vain repitition.

I just think that the better way is to continue in the scriptures rather then the recitation of creeds.

you must be stupid....I told you I wasnt a Calvinist. Of course your OCD prohibits you from thinking rationally...or is it you just cant think altogether. Either way, you got some problems to deal with apparently. Either way, I could care less.

Sub Note: You know what.... I take that back, I do care.....so here is a website on OCD & treatment. You need to put your mind in more than one obsessive direction. Hope it helps.

Wrong...My Bible exceeds what the 1689 LC contains for a good spiritual exercise experience any day of week. No ghetto scriptural gymnastics for me...

Im sorry if the truth tends to hurt you Benny but Im all about telling the truth at all costs. If you perceive me as a Calvinist, after Ive told you that I am not ....Oh well! Nor do I have an allegiance to Calvinists or Non Calvies ...as Ive pointed out---its to God. Therefore Ive got to conclude that 1. Your in fact just plain Stupid or (2) you have a mental problem that prohibits you from comprehending. In any event....like I indicated, that is your problem. Let me know if I can help you in any way overcome your er ...difficulties. Maybe stay outa the sun ....I understand its hot out there.

Can you please tell me what problems you have with the Apostles creed? Is it merely your childhood memories of Roman Catholicism & the services being almost always repetition .... that I could well understand being 32 years as a Catholic myself. Or is there more to this aversion to creeds?

    EWF...

I have nothing against it at all.. As far as I can remember there is nothing problematic in it.

I am just of the opinion that there must be a reason why God chose to NOT give us just a creed, but rather reams and reams of scriptures.

Because of of that fact, I choose to ignor the creeds, and feed on the scriptures.

If you like them, thats perfectly fine with me.
