Evil hearts do evil no matter the geography, but contrary to the claims by the Yankee media of the time, and some on this board, the Southern slave was generally not harshly treated by the vast majority of the owners.

The large and small plantation owners were like any business owner; they know that improved stock is worth more than the raw materials, and that same principle was applied throughout the south.

I would suggest that the outstanding hero Gen. Thomas (Stonewall) Jackson is somewhat typical of the mentality of the true autistic Christian Southern gentlemen.

He was instrumental in the organization in 1855 of Sunday School classes for blacks at the Presbyterian Church. His second wife, Mary Anna Jackson, taught with Jackson, as "he preferred that my labors should be given to the colored children, believing that it was more important and useful to put the strong hand of the Gospel under the ignorant African race, to lift them up."[21] The pastor, Dr. William Spottswood White, described the relationship between Jackson and his Sunday afternoon students: "In their religious instruction he succeeded wonderfully. His discipline was systematic and firm, but very kind. ... His servants reverenced and loved him, as they would have done a brother or father. ... He was emphatically the black man's friend." He addressed his students by name and they in turn referred to him affectionately as "Marse Major."[22]

The "good ol boys" want proof that the slavery practiced in the South was sinful. That says it all, chaining, beating, abusing and murdering folks must be proved to be sinful. And note none of the "good ol boys" will say it is sinful or not sinful, they just ask shuck and jive questions.

They talk about the slavery in the Bible, not the slavery in the South. Shuck and jive folks.

The Civil War was caused by slavery, with the North wanting to end it and the South wanting to preserve it. The Southern leaders who took us into War rank up there among the most evil leaders in American history.

The recent film, 12 years a slave, is based on a memoir, and recounts how a free black man was kidnapped and taken into slavery. Not from Africa, but in America. Was he chained? Yes. Was he beaten. Yes. Did he witness abuse? Yes The deniers are just like the Germans who deny the Holocaust, too proud to even admit to the butchery committed under the color of law.

No one is arguing the evil of mistreatment of anyone is Godly. It doesn't matter where in the world it occurs, evil treatment is wrong.

However, Van, that is just not the argument of this thread, but a distraction you are attempting to use. The same argument the North puffed up, and was as inaccurate then as it is to this day. It is a Hollywood version of the truth. The North has just as much evil on their hands as the South, and such claims as you are making is ignoring the truth.

Repeating your mantra is not proving your view.

You have been shown first hand accounts on this thread in writing and in actual video statements by those enslaved.

That you continue your mantra in the face of the first hand accounts is just inaccurate.

Unless you can prove by Scriptures slavery is condemned, your argument fails.


Look at what you offer as a "source." Twelve Years a Slave is a Hollywood version, of a book, and of course is going to show the worst and most evil, be visually visceral, and enhance feelings above facts. That is just so typical of the world - to market and make money off evil.

That YOU would even point to the source as "proof" of all treatment of all the slaves in the south is just so weak - especially when I gave two videos in which actual slaves record their own experiences as opposed to your source using fakers.

You need to start with the Scriptures and prove your view of slavery is evil.

Quit shuck and jive, and find some traction for your dance steps.

2) Did the South fire on Fort Sumter? Yes

3) Did the South keep at least 3 million slaves? Yes

The deniers say these facts do not prove that the Southern leaders rank up there with the most evil leaders in American history. But those who led us into war to preserve slavery spilled the blood of hundreds of thousands of Americans, dressed in blue and grey.

Here it is again. The good ol boys deny that slavery was the cause of the civil war. They point to economic reasons but are blind to the fact the economy in jeopardy was the slave economy of the south. They point to the murderous rampages of some abolitionists, but are blind to the fact these folks would not have acted if slavery did not exist.

One strawman argument after another, has been foisted to hide the fact slavery caused the civil war, with the north wanting to end it, and the south wanting to preserve it.

In history we find many displays of godlessness, i.e. the NAZI death camps, but ranking right up near the top is the Slavery as practiced by the South. To this day, some deny it was sinful.

Who seceded, north or south? The South.
Who said the split was caused by slavery? The South VP
Who fired on Fort Sumter? The South
Who seceded before Lincoln took office? The South

Who rank as among the most evil leaders in American history? The southern leaders who took us into way to preserve slavery.

 

And despite your never ending mantra, you cannot come up with a single bible verse to back your position.
