Let's kick up some dust on this one. Does anyone feel that race relations have improved since 2008, or are we worse off ... and please explain why?

I do not believe we are better off ... in fact if anything, we are more divided than ever, and statements like Holder's "We are a nation of cowards when it comes to race relations!" has not helped to address the problems.

    Race relations are improving naturally.
Every generation of Americans comes along with less of a wall up.
    Among those middle-aged and up?
Yeah, I doubt that anything improved.

I will say that it was hilarious to hear my 4 year-old daughter say "Ewwww, what is that brown man doing with a white wife?"
Her older sisters were all over that one.
Apparently, among all of our other natural propensities to sin, racism is no exception.

Do you agree with Ward Churchill that the atomic bomb should be dropped on the USA for her sins?

Obama and Holder have set race relations back 50 years. As was pointed out earlier in this thread children are growing up in a world where Race really doesn't matter and that is important yet Obama and Holder never missed an opportunity to make something into a racial issues when it is not. The fact they and their Liberal counterparts cry Racist every time someone disagreed with something Obama did was setting this country back. Its going to take a long time to recover from this administration

I had a topic on this not long ago. The only real responses you will get from most is to call you a racist.

Fact: Race relations are decidedly worse now than they were when Obama took office.

Fact: The Obama Injustice Department has made racial discrimination an art, excusing any minority from ever committing a civil rights violation.

Fact: Obama and Holder can't get past their own skin color well enough to govern fairly and effectively.

I will ask some of my African American friends what they think.

Why don't you do the same?

Fair enough. Then ask some of your African American friends. OK?

It is Professor Ward Churchill's idea that the atom bomb should be dropped on the USA to pay for her sins. How are you going to end racism without a bloodbath?

    Sorry for a repeat.

There are times that I need to read better, that's for sure. Let's hope we get more than name calling, because we need to discuss this openly and debate without calling names!

If it was discussed a while back, I apologize. But, can we ever over discuss this topic. We need to discuss and debate without namecalling, and try as Christians to resolve this before it can't be resolved.

It is a hot button topic and I doubt it can be discussed calmly and rationally.

And I am serious in my earlier reply. It is not better for white racists, whoever they are, as electing a black president was simply something they can not accept. For them matters are worse as their world is changing and changing in a way they hate. Thus they will never accept anything Obama does as good, even if it is.

For others his election showed we are making progress in our the relations between the races.

If the number of mixed race couples is an indication of racism being reduced then certainly, at least in the area I live, there is much less racism now than before he was elected. I see growing numbers of young mixed race couples with small children in this area.

The church I go to had two African Americans attending prior to 2008. I'd say about 35 percent of the attendees now are African American. To me that is an indication of better race relations.

On the personal level of individuals I believe race relations is better now. I do not give Obama or the Democrats credit for this as I believe it is a non-political movement of American society coming to accept each other in a better way now and I believe this will continue.

This movement will result in anger and discomfort in others. But that is always true in any change in a society.

It's this in a nutshell. After spending time over the holidays last year visiting aunts and uncles that we hadn't seen in some time, we both noticed a lot of underlying racism in our own families. I asked my wife on the way home just what it would take for that casual racism to die out and she told me, "only our kids can save us." She was exactly right. Race relations will get better with every subsequent generation. THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL ISSUE! I watched my 7 year old play at the pool this summer. She was playing with another white girl and when a black family arrived my daughter and her friend wasted no time in inviting the black girl to play with them. They didn't bat an eye or show any reaction to skin color. This is because they haven't been corrupted by outdated views. The only thing that will cure racism is time.

Rac relations are worse because the President and his cohorts are making it worse. They use race as a political tool.

The Democrats say that they are not guilty of racism but the GOP is guilty of racism, bigotry, birtherism and bitter clinging. Professor Ward Churchill says that an atomic bomb should be dropped on the USA for her sins. He says that he is an indigenous person whose family migrated here from Mongolia or Siberia.

The Democrats have said that every criticism of 0bam@ is racist. I myself think that 0bam@ is a very boring speaker so that makes me a racist in the eyes of white Democrats even though the Democrat Party was the party of slavery and now is the party of abortion and is silent about the disproportional number of blacks having abortions. Now I am pro-life and think that this is terrible but that is also racist and sexist, as is the statement that the KKK probably donates to Planned Parenthood.
