We had a really bad ice and snowstorm here in West KY yesterday like we have not seen in decades. Just got word that Tom Butler, a fellow church member slipped on the ice in the parking lot of his workplace and landed on his head. He requires immediate surgery to prevent swelling and other injuries. He is being flown to Nashville Vanderbilt. I will keep you all updated, but in the meantime, please pray for him and his wife Janice. Could be serious stuff.

Update: Friday night

Tom is at Vanderbilt, Nashville. His condition is critical but stable. The surgery has been delayed until Sunday to give the doctors time to make sure they know what they are dealing with. More updates as I get them.

Yes he is. I have learned much from him. He is a gentle, soft spoken, patient guy. He was the news anchor here for years. He serves as our Music Director, Chairman of the Deacons, and Sunday School teacher. In fact, I very much dread teaching his class this Sunday and the following.

Here is a slightly later update, quote from his wife.

When Tom, Jr & I left him at 8pm he was able the lift his right leg off the bed about 4 inches!! Hallelujah!! And he could feel the pressure of my fingers on his right palm which he couldn't do earlier today. Thanks so much Brenda Dyson Cardin for keeping everyone up-to-date. Talk to you tomorrow. God is GOOD all the time!! Thanks everyone for your continued prayers

Please let his family know so they can tell him that we are all praying for him and that he must get back to catch a rabbit. :)

Update at 2 central from his son

Dad is still stable. Today is a waiting day. We got two hotel rooms last night and we are going back and forth today. They are very strict on visitors. They have limited visiting hours in the trauma unit. Only two can go back for a short time and then they kick us out. He has his own personal nurse by his bedside 24/7 and a trauma team working on his behalf. Surgery first thing in the morning. It will last around 4-5 hours. Then back to the trauma unit for recovery. We should know more tomorrow afternoon.

Please continue to pray.

Moving this for a few days to General Baptist Discussion. We need to lift our brother in prayer and more will see it here.

We will shift it back after his surgery and update.
