God requires nothing less than 100% perfection and will not wink at sin, no human can attain 100% perfection in thought word and deed, and walk in God's perfect will 24/7. Our sins are so vile it blinds us to see how truly sinful us humans really are.

If you believe it's up to you to do certain things to earn and keep your salvation you're cooked it's over,

God requires us to receive jesus thru faith in irder to getsaved, is that considered a work then?

No, as God Himself supplies the needed faith to us, the Holy Spirit quickenes us to believe in Him to get saved...

Good works though should follow a believer, as the real salvation experience does not live barren fruit!

    Howdy Yeshua1,

Yes, the quickening or regeneration or born from above (as written in John 3:3) comes first, then man believes by faith.

Yes, faith is believing, faith is a verb an action, a work of man, but because Grace came first to regenerate the human God gets all the Glory, if God does not first regenerate the human, he would remain dead in his sins on his way to Hell.

That's not what the Bible says. It says once we believe we are regenerated. You've got it backwards.

    John 20:31 NKJV
but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

    No, you've got it bassakwards.

If the natural man considers the gospel to be foolishness, why would he choose it??

1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Joh 6:37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.
Joh 6:38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.
Joh 6:39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day.
Joh 6:40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day."
Joh 6:41 So the Jews grumbled about him, because he said, "I am the bread that came down from heaven."
Joh 6:42 They said, "Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does he now say, 'I have come down from heaven'?"
Joh 6:43 Jesus answered them, "Do not grumble among yourselves.
Joh 6:44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.

Address the verse in John I posted. Don't go careening off to TULIP.

I looked through all the posts and did not find the verses you are talking about, could you please repost them and tell us what they are saying, and in regards to Tulips it's much too cold for them to grow here right now? :)

Scripture is the final authority, not Calvin or any other human. I have not even read where anybody mentioned Calvin or even quoted him.

What is wrong with just sticking with scripture and the Holy Spirit??

Are you able to read and understand scripture or do you fear being brainwashed??

Do not put your trust in man, put it in scriptures, everything you read or hear should be measured against the Canon of 66 books.

I agree Benjamin, these discussions were supposed to be relegated to their own individual forum.

And the conflict will continue for centuries to come along with the pontificating of both sides.

I'm trying to expose your free will idol. :love2: Love rejoices with the truth.

Free will is a myth, the unmerited favor (grace) has to come first, it's by grace through faith, to say faith alone makes salvation a self righteous act of man, faith is believing, faith is an action a verb a work done by man, that's equivalent to salvation by works, which is a false gospel. No matter how you slice it grace comes first, if there is no unmerited favor towards a God hating dead sinner, their can be no faith in the gospel or salvation.

Mans Depravity= Both REAL Arminians and Calvinists Agree

It is man who is deceitful (Jer. 17:9), full of evil (Mark 7:21-23)
    loves darkness (John 3:19),
does not seek for God (Rom. 3:10-12),
    is ungodly (Rom. 5:6),
dead in his sins (Eph. 2:1),
by nature a child of wrath (Eph. 2:3),
cannot understand spiritual things (1 Cor. 2:14),
a slave of sin (Rom. 6:16-20)
Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me (Psalm 51:5)

    13 reasons semi pelagians/pelagians are wrong !

1)man has a heart that is deceitful (Jer. 17:9)
2)man is full of evil (Mark 7:21-23)
    3)man loves darkness (John 3:19),
4)man does not seek for God (Rom. 3:10-12),
    5)man is ungodly (Rom. 5:6),
6)man is dead in his sins (Eph. 2:1),
7)man by nature a child of wrath (Eph. 2:3),
8)man cannot understand spiritual things (1 Cor. 2:14),
9)man is a slave of sin (Rom. 6:16-20)
10)man is sinful in the womb and conceived in sin(Psalm 51:5)
    11)man cannot do good(Romans 3:10)
    12) man hates God (Rom 8:7)
    13)man loves sin (1 John 3:19)

Are we sure that RW is not an alter ego for SBM? I'm seeing some very similar philosophies between the two of them...
