So you are troubleshooting Don's wireless network installation based on....what, Apple's reputation? Seriously, the only thing that is at fault here is Apple's insistence that their devices should use Apple products and Apple software. There's nothing mysterious about connecting to a wireless network, it's just that Apple makes it difficult for non-Apple routers.

Oh for the love of the rabbit this is wrong! I have non-apple routers in the home and they work just fine.

OK, apparently you can store your music on your Mac. I stand corrected.

    Yes, they work just fine.

Don is an IT professional. I'm certain he knows how to connect a PC or a laptop to a wireless network. He says that Apple products sometimes have trouble connecting to wireless networks. I'm going to guess that this non-connecting issue occurs with non-Apple routers.

There are plenty of other IT professionals that use Macs with no trouble with WIFI networks.

As far as I can tell, SUPER easy. I just moved an album from my iTunes on my new church Mac to my old computer so I could burn a CD (I decided that in my car, I WANT a CD of some songs - that I can pick and just pop in when I want and not use my phone as a music player). It was as easy as drag and drop. I know I can drop the files into ProPresenter (the software we use for visual presentation at church) and they play flawlessly so I'm sure it would be no problem to do it on the USB in the car. :)

iTunes is the program to manage music on the Mac but you can do this without using iTunes. Copy the files to the desktop and then transfer to the USB. I've avoided using iTunes frequently when I'm just moving songs from one place to another. If I want to store them on my computer, I do tend to put them in iTunes so that they are all in one place and easily accessible.

I said the same thing. You are able to manage music via the finder and copy music from iTunes to a USB thumb drive or a SD Card.

None of our routers at home or at church or at our yacht club where we manage the network are Apple routers. :) I think at home we have.....4 Mac laptops, an Apple TV, Mac Mini and a plethora of iPhones, iPod Touches and an iMac connected to the router and it's fine. :)

Indeed correct. SD cards and USB flash drives do not show up in iTunes anyways so to manage music on these devices one needs to use the finder.

Don just has things setup wrong at his school or business and the reason why Apple devices are having problems connecting via WIFI.

Hubby was telling me today he had to work on a PC with Windows 8 and he was SO frustrated with it!! He actually had to go to DOS to find out what was on a CD that he had been given that had software on it. When he double clicked on the icon, it kept booting the program but he just wanted to see the content. He had to Google to find out how to just see what was on the disk and he had to go to the DOS prompt and type D:\dir or whatever the command is. Now THAT is backwards. I know we're up to Windows 10 but that's just dumb!! LOL

You wouldn't go to Best Buy anyway! Go to the Apple Store and often times the repair is free! I had a power cord going on my 2008 Mac (separating at the connector/wire junction) and they gave me a brand new power cable for nothing. Not gonna get THAT at Best Buy!
